Streptycoccal pneumonia

After my first taper on steroids I recently posted that I had become very ill and had developed an awful reaction on tapering to 5mg. I had also been on cellcept for about 3 weeks.

It turns out I have had streptycoccal pneumonia which has made me more ill and symptoms worse than ever. I'm off cellcept and on antibiotics. I went to A and E over a wknd as I was suffering such horrific symptoms. It had reached my sinuses and head causing terrible problems. A and E sent me away - another story- but a gp swab confirmed things.

Has anyone else had this and re attempted cellcept after?

Hello Joanna36

I had about 6 bouts of pluerisy which was very painful but on the last bout I also had a chest infection and like an absolute fool I tried to ride the pain and the infection out! I ended up getting rushed to A and E after my GP was called out because I could hardly breathe. I was took to Intensive Care as I was diagnosed with double pneumonia. I spent 9 days in an induced coma but with superb health care I came out the other end. I know it’s not a story people like to hear but I just want everyone to NOT take chances, you feel unwell, you go to the doctor. If the doctor doesn’t want to know and give you something for it then see another doctor the next day! You know your body better than anyone, so if you don’t feel right don’t be afraid to be a nuisance, after all it’s your health at stake! Thanks for the moan Joanna36, good health to you,
