Hi

Looking for advise what sun cream does everyone use particularly if you have a rash on your face. I have Amber soldier factor 50+ for kids and its hypoallergenic and I checked with the pharmacist but it's really irritating my face making it burn even more. Any advise greatfully received 😃

I use Clinique City Block factor 40 only on my face as I break out in a rash with anything else. On the rest of my bod I also have sunsense 50 on prescription. 😊

I've replied below fully, but wanted to ask you about the clinique one you're using. Is it more of a face cream/primer than a sun cream? What is the texture like?

I find that high factor sun products tend to make my skin look funny and I don't like them on my face.

I'm looking for something light for my face...

Hi City Block 40 has a very light texture and can be used as a moisturiser or a make up primer. I was at my wits end to find a high factor sun screen that looked fresh and natural as I hate that funny white tinge from a lot of products. Its brilliant with or without makeup.

Hi flossy1! Where do you get this? I tried ordering online at the clinique website and it seems like it's currently not available. Same in boots. Dermatologist/lupus expert recommended this too as it's a bit timted and can actually be used as make up foundation so i was keen to try it!

Hi I got mine from House of Fraser last year. I hope it hasn't been discontinued as it's a life saver!!!

I'm affraid it has. Just checked HoF now. My dermo told me it was but kept being advertised in places including clinique. Tried to order, seemed to get through, then it did not work. Went back it and said it was not available. My dermo said to contact clinique as they were working on a different product to replace it. Not sure why it has been disccontinued! Grr! Never tried but it sounds ideal!

I use la Roche or sunsense factor 50. Sunsense is on prescription

I've been wondering about this subject lately too.

I find most factor 50's make my skin look strange and don't like the feel of them on my face although they're fine for my body.

I've been researching mineral powders for the face that are a "natural" sun screen but can't find one that's got a high enough spf.

I want something light and gentle for my face that doesn't make me look like I'm wearing a mask! The best I've come up with is a spf 30 ultrasun face that's apparently anti aging etc.

I like the sound of the clinique one above that flossy1 mentions.

I use Uvistat SPF 50 have been using for over 25 (yes 25) years lol, I was diagnosed with discoid lupus when 17, at that time Uvistat was the only high sun protection that was available and didn't have an SPF printed on it!....No probs. at all in this time and I have very sensitive skin.

Doctors tend to prescribe Sunsense but apart from being very white and dry which required new make up to be re-applied all the time, it made my skin dry, tight, burny. My dermatologist recommended La Roche Posay Anthelios XL which is kinder to the skin but equaly good for the face. I have a friend who uses the bigger sunsense pots and she reckons those are a lighter formulat. Need to try those. What i'm strugglimg with is to get enough quantiy on prescription as the GP refuses to prescribe more than a 50ml/100ml tub of each for some reason so I keep having to go back for more ever2 weeks!
