Hi AngieK2967 ,

Do you think that this is a side effect of the new treatment, or due to a flare in your lupus? Have you shown your doctor yet?

If you want information about lupus and the skin, we have a booklet that you can read and download at lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...

Hi Paul I was on hydroxychloroquine for sixteen years and my consultant changed me to methotrexate due to damage which can be caused to eyes I've been on new tablets about six months but the last four months my liver tests have been quite elevated but I had the facial problem before new tablets

It sounds like it could possibly be your lupus flaring. Have you been protecting yourself sufficiently against UV exposure?

I have had lupus for 18 yrs now, and over the last 2 yrs have had the exact same rash you have described. It is very unsightly and quite depressing. Mine has a habit of coming and going but over the last 6 months has been pretty relentless. I have been taking photos of my face and took them to my last appt, and because it was present on my face I was finally taken seriously, and have an appt to see a consultant. It happens to be tomorrow. I'm more than happy to report back to you how I get on.

Thanks for your reply peppy I will be glad to hear your outcome at the consultants . People can be so cruel but not intentionally pointing out you have a bad rash or spots on your face

A bit of a disappointing appointment that yet again wasn't what I was lead to believe it was going to be. I was told I'd been referred to a skin specialist only to discover it was a whole knew referral, because I have a crossover of symptoms! ! Did ask about my face and have been prescribed a 2 week course of steroids. I'll give it a go and am more than happy to message you how it goes. Not very hopeful and feel yet again that I've been fobbed off. Sorry to not have more positive news x

It's disappointing peppa when you don't get any answers at appointments but hopefully you will see an improvement with the steroids keep me posted x
