New to forum..lupus sufferer ttc

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum, I got diagnosed with sle when I was 18. It got fairly well managed on medication after a year of bed rest and I managed to hold a full time job down and live most of my 20s and 30s as I wanted. I'm Now 36 and happily married, unfortunately I lost my job 2 years ago due to a bad flare. I'm still suffering now although more under controll, and my consultant was happy for us to try for a baby. A scary prospect!

I just wondered if anybody has successfully had children and had any problems trying to conceive or with pregnancy. feel quite alone and it's so hard for people to understand. I have come off mycophenolate but still on plaquenil and prednisone. Any tips?

Thanks in advance :)

  • I suggest you have a read of this blog: despitelupus.blogspot.it/

Sara Gorman was dx'd with lupus just 6 weeks after she got married. She has gone on to start a business having had to abandon her career in TV and also had 2 little girls. I'm sure you will find a lot of info and tips there - I don't have lupus but I do enjoy her blogs very much.

  • This lady has lupus and has recently given birth. I am absolutely in love with her blog and the way she writes, which is pointed, poignant, and humorous.

  • I have a beautiful 3 year old after being told pregnancy was unlikely. Actually being pregnant was the longest time without a flare up I've ever had. I did develop a kidney infection the day before I gave birth so the delivery was high risk but all turned out well. X
