Pip assesment .

Hi I'm wondering if anybody has applied for pip . I had my assesment yesterday with atos as I am diagnosed with lupus . It affects my joints and my skin and I suffer with fatigue . Yesterday when I went for the assesment before I'd even got into the room the assessor made it quite clear that I should not have been made to come to the assesment and that I should have been offered a home visit . She was really nice and I felt as if she understood my condition . Fingers crossed I'm awarded something . I'm just quite worried at the fact that I still manage to work 20 hrs a week . does any one claim pip and still work ? I've put on a picture of what my skin is actually like

Me :). It's not a work related benefit - my latest assessment stressed that I work but I intend to challenge that at my appeal (I get lower rate on both elements but feel it's the wrong level for my circumstances).

Good luck - my first assessment I had a really good lady who really got it so there are some out there!

Good luck. I got my Pip, but whether you get it or not does not depend on whether you work. Many people find PIP helps then with the extra exspenses of staying in work.

Thank you so much for your help guys . I'm dreading the waiting game now . Would make a big difference as I was previously working full time so now with dropping the hours . Ive lost half my wage. I'd heard nothing but horror stories about the assessors but she was really nice and genuine . I refused to do the physical exam as I was in too much pain . Do you now if that gets counted against you ? X

Do you know that you can get tax credits if you work 16 hours or more if you are disabled .

Hi Steph86, I receive pip, but I don't work. I also receive esa, so have gone through the assessment for both. I also refused to do certain movements in the physical exam as I can't do those in my day to day life. It states you've not to do anything asked at the assessment that wld cause you pain etc. So it shouldn't go against you. Hope you have a positive outcome & don't have to wait long for the result.

I agree that if they ask you to do something physical that you can't, or is too painful, it doesn't seem to go against you. When it came to my hips and legs I just said no.
