Steroids and infection.

I currently have an infection that I've been prescribed flucloxacillin for.

My question is this, the infection is growing a flare up of symptoms and ordinarily I would take steroids for a few days but wondered if owing to the infection this wouldn't be a good idea?

Can anyone advise please?

Thanking you in anticipation, from a feeling a bit neurotic today person! πŸ€—

Hi soootired ,

I don't think that anybody on here can really advise you about this. It may be best to phone your doctor or specialist nurse and see what they say. Only they are really qualified to make this call based on your individual case.

I'm not looking for medical assistance, just someone who may have been in the same boat and thus be able to advise, as with all posts/questions, much easier than trying to get hold of my gp!

Thank you anyway, I don't take them all the time, I just have a box in the cupboard for when I need them. I find they're the only thing that works when I get pleurisy which I get whenever I flare.

I took 30mg and the same today and feel much better, pleurisy symptoms and joint pain pretty much gone.

The infection is in my big toe, I have an in growing toe nail that for some reason went septic. This infection triggered everything else. I've been taking the antibiotics since Monday so hopefully they'll do the trick, at least I can sort of walk on it now.

Thanks again for replying. 😘
