Hi everyone....was recently in ER. Unable to urinate and had tremendous pain. Maybe passing a stone? Who knows. Just wanted to ask, does inflammation and infection go together? Or do you get an infection when you bring immunity down too much that your body cannot fight infection? Wondering what peoples experience has been.
Reason I am asking this is the hospital gave me an antibiotic (which I hate taking ), and I feel a lot better. In fact, i can breathe better (less phlegm in my lungs) and the pain in my body has decreased (no frozen shoulder). Weird.
However, I am getting very tired again, low energy, and wonder if the antibiotic is messing with my liver and intestines again.
Thank you for listening and caring.

Hi Natura, I'm no Doctor but a fellow Lupie with my infections that I get they wipe my system out and its not until I have finished any antibiotics that I sort of get back on a level, I also feel the build up in my system my Kidneys start to ache if that makes sense and I feel a weird sort of pressure in my system. My body doesn't do to good flushing out the toxins of antibiotics so I have turned a tip to soak in the bath for 40mins with epsom salts you have to give them 40 mins and they pull some toxins out of your system. I find that it helps a little adding antibiotics to what I assume is a list of meds we take just adds a extra strain on us and your body is working harder to combat any infection which in term is agravating your Lupus xx sending hugs.
Interesting willowwag... I will try an epsom salt bath. I did take 2 when I could not go to the bathroom. It helped a lot, but did not fix the problem. I have one more week till health insurance kicks in. I am trying to hold on till I can see a urologist. Thank you.
I would also check and see if the antibiotic you are on could be having a reaction with the medications you are currently taking. There are lots of websites out there that contain drug interaction checkers and that's how I found out that my Methotrexate and Amoxicillin caused a negative reaction when taken together. Good luck!
That was it. Apparently, my GP said i had an allergic reaction. He said it was not uncommon to have the reactions i had. Told me to make a note to not ever take again, and stop taking.
Hi Natuara so glad you got to the bottom off it with the medication reactions, and I hope you are feeling better, another good tip of mine as I come out in all diff rashes from the sun, shaving my legs and heat rash areas is when I wash my body I just you Dettol sensitive antibacterial soap its also a god send to keep prickly heat at bay. really helps keep the rashes at bay.
