Pip: Hi everyone just got my pip consultation after... - LUPUS UK
Pip
When you answer the questions don't think about how you are feeling that day (it might be a good day) think of the really bad days and what you can't manage. its too easy to say oh I'm ok when we're not really.
Hope it goes ok.
As Chris21 said plus take someone with you. My daughter kept interupting and saying no you can't do that I watch you.
Hi
Ask to record the assessment as they have a habit of not writing down what you answer
Have you looked at the Benifits and Work site
Used these last time I filled out my forms for DLA (Christmas gone) straight through plus no medical.
Good luck
Hi all, I had my PIP assessment yesterday. I took my niece with me & thank god I did. I was in a flare & have a chest infection. At times I was a blubbering wreck, but my niece was able to answer questions about me & the assessor directed questions to her. I also took notes with me about what I'd wrote on their assessment form. I found that very helpful. The assessor was very patient with me, giving me a breather when needed & explaining everything that she was doing & why. She noticed I'm light sensortive & turned lights out & closed blinds for me. All this gets put on your report. I also requested permission for taxi expensive as it was a sunny day & I cant use public transport due to sun through windows (I end up playing musical chairs n dodge the sun games which is stressful) plus been on immune suppressants I get paranoid about other people sneezing etc. All this is taken into consideration. Its your daily life battles after all. She asked me about washing & dressing, no prob in answering there, I'd just spent two days mostly in bed n didn't have energy to wash or change pj's. This can happen often. It was a challenge to get to the assessment, but it means so much to me to be awarded payment. Sorry I'm waffling now, just make sure you tell them about how your Lupus affects you on bad days, as others have said. How much you depend on others to help you & how your life has changed so quickly. I'm sat with fingers crossed waiting for the brown envelope with my decision, good luck to you x
