Pip: Advice on applying for pip ? Should I bother... - LUPUS UK
Pip
Yes, it’s worth it as you are eligible. Get CAB to help you fill in form and read all advice on how to apply on LupuS UK. I didn’t get mine but have appealed. But, I work so they feel I am ok. Definitely, should be done though. And blue badge as Lupus now a recognised condition on their list. If it helps then do it.
Can't comment on Pip, but I have a Blue Badge based on Lupus . Good luck .
This give the Govt’s outlines on PIP.
I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to get help with completing the forms. Being awarded PIP depends on how many points you are deemed to accrue for difficulties in day to day activities. CAB or a Welfare Advice Officer from your council knows how the points systems work.
It doesn’t matter if you work, nor is it based on diagnosis. PIP is based on your everyday needs which cause extra strain on your finances.
If you are assessed, fail, and appeal, you may ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration. At that point, get a copy of the assessor’s report to check its accuracy.
After that you can go to Tribunal.
Last time I went to Tribunal. It took a long time and I was successful.
Blue Badge assessments can be more straightforward. They are based on the mobility award for PIP.
I hope it goes well.
With PIP fill in form for your worst not your usual. Emphasis the bad days don't bother with your good days. Get help filling in form.
Hi Harry19,
We have some information booklets on PIP which I can send to you via email. If you would like this please let me know my email is chanpreet@lupusuk.org.uk
Hi Harry yes it is worth it although quite a stressful procedure. My best advice is to get a subscription to Benefits and Work. It cost about £20 and it takes you step by step through each question. It is a depressing task as it reinforces the issues where you require help to live as others without chronic health problems. The PIP format differs from the old DLA forms which ask you to specify how many times you can do something, how long you require help for so it is important to put these things in yourself. For me going from DLA to PIP was difficult until I got the benefit of the subscription. It focused my mind. As for the Blue Badge I find it is such a big help especially on days that I need my wheelchair or am extremely fatigued. There are also other benefits to getting PIP like Cinema cards which allow you to take a carer with you for free. In Wales we also have a Hynt scheme which means my husband can accompany me to the theatre for free. Good luck with it.
Search fightback4 justice on Facebook they would help you fill in the pip form so knowledgeable and they know what they are talking about too.
I forgot to answer about a Blue Badge. After learning here that 4 mobility points on you PIP award *may* entitle you to one. I filled in, on line, with copies of the necessary proof and have been invited to an assessment for one.
I’m conflicted about this TBH. My last PIP assessment was economical with the truth to say the least. I don’t want a repeat of that! skipped the last appointment and have been invited again.
Currently slapping myself metaphorically about it. 🤷♀️
