Palpitations

Hi all

Does anyone know how to stop palpitations after eating? It’s getting ridiculous now. Pretty much after everything I eat it starts.

At night I also can’t lay on my left side as it’s pounding out of my chest.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

I have persistent palpitations , running at 115/125+ for 17 days now. I would advise you to eat small amounts very slowly and not to drink too much with your meal. Sit upright when eating. ( Dont I sound bossy !!😆😂)

As for sleeping. ...prop yourself up with pillows as much as you can and avoid left side. I manage by sleeping on my back and partially left side as I can't lie on the right for other reasons.

Hope this helps a bit !

Thanks guys

I’ve had them for three days now. Thought it was just alcohol on new year as don’t normally drink, but today has been horrendous. I’ve even got tremors. Feel terrible x

Your heart is irritated and needs to be looked after for a while. Stop alcohol, caffeine and sugar (especially artificial sweeteners). Try eating a banana and avocado a day (or at least 2 or 3 time a week), no (or limit) processed foods and drink more water (not too much), especially before you do anything else in the morning. Leave at least 12 (no more than 16) hours between your last meal in the evening and first in the morning. Also try magnesium supplements (not magnesium oxide) and an Epsom salts bath (use half a packet) every few days.

Should start to feel better after a few days but it will take around 3 months for the benefits to really kick in. When you back to "normal" try to keep doing some of these things.

Are banana and avacado known to help ectopic?. I have recently had PVC and PAC . still awaiting rest of investigations but on bisoprolol. This forum has been of great help, I have just ordered magnesium taurate from biocare. its bit expensive. once table for go for cheaper ones

May be, if your short of key electrolytes they may be a good source. If your condition is caused by something else and your electrolytes are fine then no. however its not easy to know your electrolytes in your cells where they matter for ectopics etc and blood count electrolytes do not give you your cell values and can be very misleading.

I find that I easily swallow air when I eat too quickly or talk when I eat. Also sipping hot drinks I swallow mouthfuls of air to cool them. Try breathing out excess air before each swallow. This helps me to reduce bloating which causes ectopics.

when i get these kind of palpitations, after eating.. i can usually stop them by stimulating the vagus nerve.. [hard coughs, ice water splashed on face &/or holding nose and mouth shut, blowing out, like trying to pop your ears] and i get them too laying on my left side..

i agree with the banana a day thing, lots of water, as dehydration makes it worse.. and try to not panic..

i'm having a bad bout of palpitations right now.. mine lately come on after any strenuous exercise or activity.. so i'm laying low and seeing my GP in 6 days.. i'm going to get to the root of this..

Thanks guys

I’ll try the banana

I drink lots of water

It kicked off after New Year’s Eve with alcohol ( I don’t really drink ever! ) and now just constantly after food

It feels like someone has given me stimulants

I cannot sit still

I feel I could run and run

It’s awful

Today I was in a training day all day and sitting there for two hours with it was hell

I try the vagus nerve stimulation

I’ll try anything tbh

It’s horrible

I’ll start magnesium as I find it kicks off after exercise (I go to the gym daily) I get a massive happy feeling after exercise but then I’m left with a racing heart and tonnes of palpitations. Rubbish! Glad I’m not alone. Thank you x

Barbie it may be a good idea to call your doctors surgery when you are having one of your episodes and see if they will do an ECG right away. This will show just what's going on. You may not have to ask for the ECG, just say my heart is doing something, feels like its racing and its making me feel unwell, I'm afraid, can I come down and see someone now. Then they would do the ECG as a matter of course.

Please don't suffer in silence.
