Hello,
I take a daily supplement dose of plant based vitamin B12 Complex and try to eat a range of foods that are healthy. I drink alcohol - maybe 5 units four/five times a week and I read that maybe I should take additional B vitamins to cover myself against there being insufficient to counteract this. I do feel run down despite my blood test results being generally OK. My full blood count shows a HB level around 11.5 to 12 ( been around this for years ), ferritin levels are normal, MCV is just over the top of the normal range and RBC count is 15% below the bottom of the range. I often feel tired after eating meals despite trying to eat healthily.
Is it worth taking additional B vitamins ( thinking B1, B2 B6 ?? ). It puzzles me that these vitamins are sold in 100mg tablets/capsules when the daily 'dose' is much less than this. If the body needs only small amount each day and they are not stored for future use in the way that B9 and B12 are then what is the point of taking them in 100mg quantities ?
Thanks
Rob
