After a prolapse I had a ring Pessary fitted but since then have found my constipation problems have worsened . I don’t like taking meds and prefer to help myself if I can but even my morning breakfast of chopped pear ground flaxseed and yoghurt weren’t helping so I turned to the doc. Laxido was prescribed but couldn’t cope with side effects ,then lactulose but still unable to have regular trouble free motions despite gallons of water . Waiting to here if the doc has any other ideas but wondered if anyone else with similar problems has?

Constipation
Hi and welcome to the Healthy Eating group, Batty51 .
Have you checked out either the ERIC group healthunlocked.com/eric or the IBS group that’s also on HU for information?
Well, instead of the pessary, have you considered surgery? I had a prolapse, and the doctor hadn't gotten the word 'pessary' halfway out of his mouth before I said NO WAY.
It sounds to me like the pessary is maybe a bit of an obstruction? That's just a thought.
The surgery was laparoscopic, they fixed my bladder too (which was an option--it was only a sneeze kinda problem but...no more!) and, well...did they offer surgery to you?
Hi, I haven't had the surgery that you've had, but have endured constant constipation. My pain and discomfort were so bad that I was given a sigmoidoscopy which revealed nothing. I have now discovered chia seeds and am free of constipation. I soak a tablespoonful twice a day in my milk substitute (I am lactose intolerant) and use it in my breakfast cereal, adding more milk and add it to Yoghurt and fruit for a dessert. Like you, I resist chemical solutions. I hope this helps. Good luck.
