Last Summer I had a motorcycle wreck that left me with PTSD. I have lots of anxieties, especially with another upcoming surgery, but I’m getting them under control more often during the day...at night though, I wake up panicking. I started having GERD issues, which my doctor thinks is just from the anxiety. But it’s so much worse at night. I sleep on a wedge, and don’t eat anything a few hours before bedtime. Try to cut back the triggers, taking Ranitidine, but still have issues at night. I wake up with a heaviness on my chest and a dry throat. Praying for relief... does anyone that suffers with the same have advise that would help?

Hi YaShylo
Welcome to the Healthy eating forum. There is some information in the NHS website, and a link is here:
nhs.uk/conditions/heartburn...
But I suspect you've likely already discussed those things with your GP.
There is a Community in Health unlocked which is a support network for PTSD - here is a link to the 'Heal my PTSD' forum:
I'm glad to hear you've had some improvement in the daytime - but I hope you can find some relief for your nighttime issues.

Welcome to the group. Please feel free to continue posting and commenting, asking questions, take a look at the Polls/Topics/Events/Pinned Posts for suggestions/ideas/information and of course, get to meet the rest of the group's members.
Has your doctor suggested to take a few deep breaths in and out slowly? This helps me personally when I get stressed out or worried.
Yes, and it definitely has helped me during the day when I’m aware of the panic rising, but when I wake up out of a deep sleep like this it’s a lot harder. I was hoping that posting on this group would help me if anyone that suffers from GERD had any advise on what they eat to keep stomach acid from getting any worse.
Acid relux? Did the doctor say you needed to be on any medication for heart burn/relux?
I’m on Ranitidine... someone said to lay on left side... so I tried that at an incline last night and slept better for a lil while. My hips hurt from being broken during the accident tho, so I couldn’t stay that way to long. But thankful for the relief that let me sleep a couple of hours
Here is an informative link. If you like what it says it has a further link talking about dietary changes you might be interested in. nutritionfacts.org/2017/05/...
