Hello, my name is Billy Rhomboid also known as Rignold over on the C25k where I have been an active member for a few years.

I only just discovered this group existed and am very excited to join. I am a passionate foodie, single parent of 3, following a mainly LCHF/keto direction.

and Keto is short for ketogenic, which is broadly similar: essentially whereas in conventional diets the body burns glucose converted from carbohydrate, whereas in a ketogenic diet, with very low carb intake, the body burns fat as an energy source, which the liver converts into ketones ( hence the name). It was originally developed to aid diabetics and reduce the incidence of epilepsy in children, for which it is, i believe, very effective.

Thank you, Rignold for the explanation of the KETO diet. I'm not just diabetic. I'm also epileptic, as well.

I am neither, but came to LCHF/Keto via Paleo and have found it tremendously good for my energy levels and general health.

Obviously I cannot advise from a medical perspective but it might well be worth your looking into.

gosh that must make keto more challenging. Would love to have a chat with you some time about how you adapt to get sufficient fats (makes a change from "you're a vegetarian, what about protein?", I suppose).

Fats from butter. VCO. EVOO. Ghee. Avocado. Coconut milk. Nuts.

Proteins from eggs mainly and cheese, Paneer (Indian cottage cheese)

I don't depend on plant source for proteins though I so take some mung sprouts.. it's a poor source..
