Thanks for inviting me to healthy eating. Where do I start?
Hello: Thanks for inviting me to healthy... - Healthy Eating
Hello
I've just watched a TED talk in which people are advised to give away all their junk food to someone they don't like. It's much easier to eat well if there's no junk squealing "eat me"!
I stick to eating predominantly unprosessed food at home, & being a bit more relaxed when I'm out. Think 80% good, 20% less so, though I aim for 90/10.
Eat lots of fresh fruit & vegetables, try to get more of your protein from plants such as beans & lentils, nuts & seeds, & add regular probiotics to your daily routine for good gut health. Avoid processed foods, especially bad fats like margarine & sunflower oil, & artificial sweeteners ~ the food industry lies, these things are toxic.
Think about which things you like & are good for you, & what you need to cut down on, or cut out. Spend time in the fresh section of your supermarket, & peruse the wholefood section for things that look tasty. Avoid the aisles that are filled with c**p.
Do swaps for healthy treats such as medjool dates, I prefer to toffee, & healthy >70% cocoa chocolate instead of nasty biscuits. Drink green tea with a slice of lemon instead of builders tea. Eat sourdough instead of ordinary bread, or see how you feel avoiding wheat entirely. Swap junk cereals for porridge & maple syrup. Order a random organic veg box, then have fun choosing/inventing new recipes.
Here's a few simple things to look at, & perhaps print & stick to your fridge:

Hi I thought margarine was healthier than butter, I cut out my lurpak for flora?
Nope, the food industry lies: healthunlocked.com/healthye....
I'm sure they're in cahoots with the pharmaceutical industry to increae profits by making people sick.
Grass fed organic butter has some health benefits, eaten in moderation. Margarine is chemically closer to plastic than a food. Sunfloer oil is similarly processed & an inflammatory food, yet it's still hyped as healthy. Even my GP told me to avoid it, being better than most regarding dietary advice.
Natural food is always better.
Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it. It's amazing the crap that they're telling us,
Rosie 😊
You're welcome, Rosie!

Thanks Mel I'll have a look at it later I'm a bit sore just now, I have fibromyalgia, I'm just going for a lie down
Rosie 😊
Oh no!
Have you had your thyroid hormones B12 & folate checked? I was misdiagnosed with FM. A return of symptoms & an afternoon crash tells me I’m under medicated or there’s an issue with my B12.
Take a look at Thyroid UK & the Pernicious Anaemia forums on here. TUK helped me resolve >40 years of chronic health issues, then dealing with more recent symptoms of low B12.
I’ve been floored for weeks after accidentally ordering 500mcg B12,when I need daily 5,000. 💊😢 It’s sad that doctors are lacking in knowledge re both issues.
Hope you feel a bit better after your nap!
Mel
Thanks but I've had them all checked I've got a brilliant GP she's on the ball when my results came back normal she had them done again a couple of months later and again they were normal. I've just had them done recently and again normal, a few years ago when she thought I had fibro on top of osteoarthritis she sent me to the rheumatologist where it was formally diagnosed fibromyalgia, she did that same with the neurologist who diagnosed essential tremor lol I sound decrepit and that's not everything, since cutting out a lot of unhealthy food, or should I say cutting down lol I have lost 5st in 25 months
Rosie 😊

Do you have copies of your blood test results? Something I’ve learned the hard way is that NHS normal ranges are very low. If certain nutrients aren’t optimal, ie, at the very top of the reference range, this can cause issues such as FM & CFS. Ask for a copy of your blood tests, & compare your results with the ranges shown I brackets. Those essential for good hormone production & absorption include vitamins D, B12 & folate. Also check whether you have been tested for thyroid antibodies. No matter how nice they seem, doctors are not good at diagnosing thyroid disorders or interpreting the test results that show autoimmune disease. Their reliance on inaccurate blood testing leaves them unable to spot symptoms.
It’s usual for people to put their blood tests results & ranges. on the TUK forum for analysis. The admins & wonderful people on that forum are experts on interpretation & helping people get better from the likes of FM, which is never alleviated by any of the painkillers, anti-inflammatory, & anti-depressant drugs that doctors hand out. A hormone deficiency can only be treated with the correct hormones, or the micronutrients that people might lack which causes their symptoms.
