End of therapy

In January 2023 I rang Impact to be out on the waiting list for therapy. In October 2024 I got a phone call asking if I was still wanting therapy, so I started that week. I now have only one session left and that is next week.

It has been helpful talking to someone and getting it off my chest.

I am now worried of what to do after therapy stops. I am involved with the Recovery College within Impact so that is online once a week. It covered copying techniques and other things that can be helpful for anxiety and depression as a whole.

I am really hoping I don't go backwards.

I'm so glad you found therapy helpful and I'm very sorry it is ending.

I live in the USA so I'm not sure how your system works.

Are there any other programs available? Even if they are short term I would jump at anything that is offered.

If things start to trend in a downward cycle are you able to reenter therapy sessions?

You tube and self help books might fill some gaps.

I'm very sorry this has happened.

use the strategies to write reminders sets around your home. Also, look into DBT if this therapy wasn’t along those lines. It’s been super helpful for me.

DBT is an offshoot of cBT but more in depth.

Hi, sorry you had to wait so long but glad you found it useful. I know how scary it feels to get to the end of a time limited set of sessions either in the NHS or a commissioned service like Impact. It's good they have the recovery college and you'll be able to re-refer if you find yourself struggling again. I know that I've never got to the point I was when I first had therapy as I knew myself better and could take action more quickly. There will be some feelings of loss and questions about your own ability to cope and that's normal but I'm certain you have many more resources now and you also have us!
