I feel lost I didn’t know how bad things were and how abusive the last seven years were. I am shocked this is my reality. I have no one. I don’t understand what I did wrong.

Lost for words
I am sorry that things are tough for you. I have only recently had some quite shocking insights into how dreadful things were in my past, so I think I understand a bit. Like you, I don't have anyone. If I can help, I will. For now, I am sending good wishes and a hug.
Please consider - you may not have done anything wrong. Sometimes our feelings and anxieties tell us things that aren't true. When we have experienced abuse we are more likely to believe those things, even if they are not true.

Hi Mustardog,
The reality of things can hit really hard. It can be overwhelming. Have you tried any grounding techniques for when you are overwhelmed?
I think sometimes it is easier to go on with life, not fully grasping the situation and it can take some time to realize what you have been through.
I hope this is a new beginning to your healing.

It’s not always easy to recognise abuse. Don’t blame yourself for not knowing, I’m sure there are a lot of factors in the situation that made it difficult to see the truth. But now at least you know, and it doesn’t matter how long it took and what you had to go through to get this knowledge, because now you have it, and it’s priceless.
It’s sad that you feel alone. But being alone doesn’t have to be bad. Just remember, now there might be more room for new people to come in, you just need to be patient and let them in when you feel safe again.
And don’t worry about what you did wrong. You did the best you could with the knowledge that was available to you at the time. Focus on what you can do now that is right.
