Hi, I have recently had my medication of Duloxetine increased from 40-60mg a day, and have started having jaw pain, has anybody else suffered this side effect, and if so does it go away with time. I look forward to any replies. Many thanks Joyce x

Hello, lm not able to take any meds..lm in a bit of a state at the mo.l also have Lupus SLE ,Hashimoto's
,Hughes , Sjogrens and have been suffering with my worst bout of costochronditis yet! BUT getting to the point l also have been getting VERY bad jaw pain for the last two weeks along with
tingling pain over my nose and cheeks.l went to my Gp who said he
could give me something for it but best he didn't as l would probably react to
that aswell! So not
helpful..just wanted to say that if lm not on meds and have it maybe
its not your medication? My jaw gets worse if l eat hard foods but can also just start up for no reason the tingling just turns up as well ..uninvited ..no answers at the mo ,waiting for a appointment.just thought I would say your not in the boat alone xx
Hi Donna,
Thanks for your reply, you are probably right, as it is a bit better today I took 2 amitriptyline 10mg last night and it must have relaxed my jaw, I suffer from costochonditis aswell, and the Duloxetine has really helped that, its awful isn't it? I also get the tingling over my nose too. It is hard to know sometimes, if the pain or symptoms, are from the Fibro, or side effects from the drugs. It is very reassuring that we share the same symptoms.

Haha forgot to say l have Fibromyalgia as well! How could l have forgotten!,
Hi Joyce,
I would be surprised if an increased dose of Duloxetine is causing your pain. It's more likely to be something that just happened to crop up at the same time.
Maybe a quick visit to the dentist to check your mouth and jaw would be the answer if this problem persists more than a couple of days.

Hi Moffy
Thanks for your reply, you are probably right, it it a lot better today, I think maybe the cold weather got to my jaw, I was out with the dog and there was a really cold wind round here.

I just had a thought I am pretty sure duloxetine. Is in the same family as fluoxetine and I tried fluoxetine as one of the three anti depressants that didnt suit me... And the side effect I got was muscle spasms in my jaw it got to the point after a week my jaw was spasming shut every few minutes and my jaw ached so much I went back to my GP and he saw what was happening and took me off it straight away.... I wonder if you are getting a milder version of that ....
Might possibly be worth mentioning to your GP as I tried seroxat while on muscle relaxants and my jaw tried to spasm but the muscle relaxants stopped it and I ended up with just a sore jaw.... I now take dosulepin which does suit

hi VG
Duloxetine is different to fluoxetine, but it wouldn't supprise if side effects are similar, but I feel a bit better today, I think the cold wind on my face might have flared it up,but many thanks for your answer
