Hi All, well the podiatry appt eventually arrived on Monday. Was expecting to just be triaged and given another appt to actually get something done but saw a lovely lady who said it would be a shame to delay things unnecessarily as my old hooves are giving me so much gip. She proceeded to draw all over my feet with lipstick and made me walk around in a very glamorous manner with trousers rolled up and unlaced boots on my feet. If you see anything like this on "You've Been Framed" please do let me know. Said she'd get some special inner soles made to cushion the sore bits but they'd take about six weeks so she'd fashion something to help for that day. Then proceeded to cut out little ball of the foot shaped pads out of fleece and stuck them directly on my feet! OK I thought - don't knock it til you've tried it - and I have to say it did make things a bit more comfy except for the fact that my heels were taking a bit more of the strain and decided to really make their displeasure known. Decided when I got in from work that I had to give my poor heels a break and went to take the padding off only to find it was welded in place. So, not wishing to look part hobbit for the rest of my life I rang podiatry to ask their advice. Poor girl on the end of the phone got quite flustered talking to a hobbit and said the podiatrists had all gone home. All she could suggest was I had a bath with them on and see it that loosened them. Didn't much feel like having to blow dry my feet so decided I would see if I could try and loosen the fluff millimetre by millimetre. Thankfully managed to remove it eventually without taking the skin off too. Now thinking that podiatry and secretly in cahoots with physio to force you into yoga mode to scrape their handiwork off! xx
I'm sure it seemed like a good idea a... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time......
Oh dear, Misty - I shouldn't laugh, but the thought of you scraping woolly fluff off your feet was too much for my chuckle muscles!
At least the lady took your problem seriously and hopefully you will be better when you get your custom-made inserts.
I got some memory foam insoles from Boots, and they are very helpful, not too chunky. I hope yours arrive soon, can't imagine why they take six weeks to make!

Oh my ... Straightens face... Sometimes I wonder who has the problem the specialists or us... Sticking sheep to your feet .... No it's no good I have to laugh ...... Why did she do that for one day when surely she didnt expect you not to wash your feet for 6 weeks to keep them in place......
On a serious note you had better luck at podiatry than I did so congrats with that and I hope the specially made ones are better... I had mine made at orthotics and had to stand with my feet in two plastic tubs with this mould making stuff in ... They took six weeks to make but really correct my feet the only downsize is they are so thick my footwear is very limited now but comfort comes first...
Really hope the new insoles help .. I hope this hasn't left you with a sheep phobia
VG x
No VG not left me with anything baaaaaad. Ooops!
Just stay away from the fields when it finally warms up and the sheep need to be sheared ......
Oh dear, I'm stifling a fit of the giggles too misty, sorry, but the way you worded this is classic. and hair-drying your feet, well whatever next......hehe.......so glad you managed to get them off though, the thought of the yoga coming from the podiatrist and you contorting yourself......oh dear.....:D. Hope the insoles arrive soon and they make you much more comfortable . Foggy x
I have 6 words to say: nail polish remover or white spirit!
Do have a word with the practitioner. That really was an idiotic thing for her to do, well-meant or not.
Didn't mean to laugh sorry ,
I know just how hard it is trying to stand when your feet hurt ,I have to say that first thing in the morning for me is the worsed thing ever ,my feet feel like they have got 3 size's bigger over night and the pain can be unberable, I tend not to where shoes unless I have to ,
I put plasters on the bits that hurt the most if I go out it helps a great deal ,
I hope you get the comfort you need for your poor feet soon ,lots of hugs and take care Tina
