Thank you for posting this eversohappy as soon as we read your post yesterday we went haring around for information like this to check what impact nytol would have with gabapentin and co- codamol and as soon as we read difficulty in co ordination dizziness drowsiness may be unsafe to drive we worried about you as you said you felt dizzy driving home and we do care on here and try to give information without judging or worrying people unduly.
The link you posted is very useful as it covers so many meds. I nearly took cough medicine over the counter a few months ago for a tickly cough and fortunanately my pharmacist who knows my meds well said it wasn't advisable for me to take with my meds.... Cough medicine.... I would never have thought of it.... He recommended chocolate ... I thought he was joking but he wasnt ,.... Best med ever and the cough went....

It is a good idea to know what you can and cannot take. My hubby is on Ramipril for his blood pressure and he got an awful cough. I was all set to go out and buy him his usual cough medicine that he used pre-Ramipril. Mother in law came up and I was telling her how bad his cough had been and she said ask the pharmacist as there are certain things you cannot take with BP tablets. So glad I did now. So I am stocked up on cough meds he can take. I beleive in being prepared. great post Eversohappy and thanks xxxxxx

always good to hear from others and what they find.
Co-codomol is well known for not being very good with side effects!
they make me feel sick, dizzy and hallucinate ..ohhh god i will be thinking of VG and that
snake!
nytol is addictive (that is only on my experience of working in pharmacy) and we used to have to keep an eye on regular patients coming in buying them. you got to recognise them, same with solpadol that was used a lot too.
usually though soon as a Dr prescribes something they check the interactions there and then so if your taking something that is purchased OTC then you should be asked straight away and they should check for you.
it is so easy to beable to buy things now from supermarkets and you do not get asked as check out staff are not trained and so long as your not buying more than they are aloud to serve ie with paracetomol and ibuprofen or other supermarket products there is nothing can be done, so always best if there is a pharmacy available check before buying, because when your on PX drugs and we get colds etc or the runs or sickness we can readily buy things without asking the Dr.
its the ingredients which are important as you all know, that we must check.
reading leaflets is a must for me so any side effects i can see i would question.
like lyrica i was fortunate to read in a book too about that as i was not so keen but it scared me what it said to stop it so now i am so far with the dosage i would never dare go against it now and only take advice of the professions. i have a lot of medical customers so i am fortunate too to get some 'free' advice without having to see my own Dr.
you can usually google your meds and their interactions like i often do am just not very good at re remembering and because i cannot post links on here (i will have to get higher on the list hahah) only it is best to see the professions as internet does not always give the true answers.
I worked in pharmacy for 8yrs so i got to look at interactions, however its been some considerable yaers now and i dont have the errrm now thats it blind mind has gone!!! arrrggghhh
i would of been great now at that place to help.
have any of you got patient.co.uk as that is used by Dr's ? i also use almost Dr too its an app i have on my iphone.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx caroline fuzzy fairy
I always use Drugs.com for any interactions on my meds.
Fairycazzie what was your problem with Lyrica? I have been taking it for a few months now & have had my doseage increased 3 times. My GP also precribes me with co-codamol 15/500mg. Should I not take these 2 meds together?
