How have you got on with applying for a Blue Badge, sucessfull or not so sucsessfull?
Hi Charlotte
You need to ring up your local council and they will send you out a form to fill which is quite straight forward, sometimes this will come out to access you or they will do it over the phone which is how I did mine.
All the best

Thaaaanks for the advice, I have the form but I've had some people
say I won't get one as my condition isn't classed as needing one.
Just wondered if others had managed to get one or not?!
I suppose sending it off won't do me any harm
Thanks again, take care

I found it quite easy,I was refused at first so I thought I would leave it a week or so and then ring them, apparently my form automatically went to the review department and they rang me up,I spoke to a lovely lady and explained in more detail about my condition which she was very understanding, she then said there and then on the phone that I was successful.
My advice to you is to send in the forms,it doesn't matter if you've heard someone say they never got,at the end of the day this is about you not anyone else...you've got nothing to loose.
Put the form in, and if you can send in a supporting letter from GP. I got mine straight away and it has made a great deal of difference to my life. Good luck x
I suppose it all depends on your local authority, I didnt get one I sent in my form, then had to have an assesment at the council offices after about a week I got a letter telling me I was unsucessful The woman doing the assesment told me that very few were getting them because there was far too many disabled people and not enough parking spaces!!! Good luck x
Nooooo that's not fair at all! This is what I fear,
but it won't hurt trying! Thanks for the advice
Thanks again, take care

Hi, i applied it took weeks to get an appointment ,went for assessment ( you do not need to do this if you get high rate dla ) anyway whole process took just over an hour not including travel, had to walk outside building one assessor to my right one training student behind. No one timed nor measured the walk but i was gone for over 15 minutes rest was talking asking daft questions i did not complete the rest of medical(a joke raise your leg ,raise your arm ect)anyway i was really worn down from walk i was exhausted.I was refused for b.b i rang and complained about some comments the assessor made ie osteoarthritis was my own fault i wore my body out im still young.....ish ,fibro he described as aches and pains lol i wish anyway upshot was the assessors decision was overturned and i now have a b.b so the struggle paid off ,take heart and try you may be lucky and good luck x
It's such a shame you had to go through all of that,
there should be no need for it. It almost makes me
angry, it's crazy, my issue which is the same as others maybe,
it depends how bad my pain is on that day, somedays I can't
get out of bed but if I have to go out I may use my crutches
for support as I'll end up falling over if not. I'm so sorry you had
such a bad experience but thanks so much for sharing it with me
I'm able to prepare myself for it!
Thanks again, take care

Hi our council will only give a blue badge if you have higher rate of DLA which I find disgusting as everyone who cant walk far may not even be on DLA . Especially over 60@s that never needed it before and cant get it now ! One of the catches is too that you cannot park outside our office and if you walk from the parking spaces they say well how did you get here. My Father was 68 and he never got one because of the parking rule. So next time he went we drove him and dropped him off.
Good luck I hope you are succesfull x x x

Hi,
I printed the form off the internet and took it to my doctor, she watched me walk a few steps down the corridor, filled it in for me and I was successful.
