I haven't, though it's something I'm thinking about looking into . Used to have one for my son but only rarely had to contact her and she rarely contacted me .

Hugs

sounds like cxs could do with one too! I suppose they are busy people but i am sure once they have things in motion for us we would be better able to cope alone. thanks.xxx

I remember 12 years ago when i sat in occupational health at work with a doctor who said to me "you will never work again because your health is so unpredictable" that hit me like a wall! after a few minutes I burst into tears. my marriage had just fallen apart and so had my new life. I had a breakdown and have not worked since but got dla and made the most of my time wen i could. withdrawing my lifesavings, i swapped my car for a small camper and never looked back. i am in more pain and more disabled now but can still get about with aids. I should have had a social worker then! thanks for your story lally, it is appreciated. at least we know we all have stories to tell and we are all suffering together. xxxx

I think we all have stories behind the brave smile, I for one would love to hear them , its easy to hide behind a smile but very hard to face up to what we re all going through, I do hope you get a social worker as good as mine, I now look on her as a friend, and god love her she always gives me a hug when she leaves

I had a psychiatric district nurse a few years ago who was like that . After 2 suicide attempts because of severe depression , she literally saved my life. She'd visit me even when off duty , accompany me on appointments in her own time of necessary . I wouldn't have gotten through it without her.

theres some good people out there, ive just had re ablement out, and Sarah just sat and listened didnt judge , just let me talk Im ill Im not an idiot, everyone Ive met have put me in the driving seat, they let me be in charge, yes Ive got to have a carer, yes ive got to have a blue badge, yes perhaps my life wont be the same as it was, but Im damned if Ill give in, yes I have really bad depression at time when I feel so lost, but Ive got alot to be thankful for, Ive got my hubby back lost him to his own depression for a while, Ive got 5 amazing kids and a daughter in law who I love like shes my own, so with help Ill embrass this new life some how

Its ok Jules, we all need to off load sometime or other. your support worker sounds great! Parents can get difficult to deal with and when we get older and have troubles of our own it make things even harder to cope. there is only so much our friends and family can cope with so we cannot always off load to them. I have started to come to terms with my escalating health problems and learning coping strategies all the time but still get it wrong! It helps having our friends here to help.

have a good night xxx

I have a long term social worker who has helped to get me equipment etc.

She is really good n understands about Fibromyalgia, also she understands about my other illnesses..... Degenerative discs & facets, Arthritis.... I also suffer from low blood sugars (which is controlled by diet), Migraines (which are controlled with Propanolol) as they were so severe, n depression due to Fibromyalgia n also struggling with my disabled husband whose in a wheelchair full time n has to be hoisted everywhere. I also have sciatica which seems to be ok at the moment but I have had shooting pains up n down my legs n little jerks from my legs as well. My daughters do help occasionally, my youngest daughter lives with us n she has a 20months old little girl. We are trying to get her re-housed but its difficult. We are going to be moved by the council (we are in the highest band) as i cannot get upstairs anymore n my husband cannot get round in his elecrtric wheelchair. My daughter is in the lowest band for the council....just cant seem to shift her to do anything n this makes me even more depressed. We have carers come in everyday. They come in 4 x a day for my husband n 2 x a day for me. I have a lot of days where i cant even get out of bed n Im in pain everyday, the fatigue is unbelieveable at times. I dont get much sleep. I know how difficult it is when you Fibromyalgia...... hopefully they will be able to either control it or find a cure soon especially since they found out it shows up on a brain scan now.

yes angel that brain scan thing sounds like a real breakthrough - certainly a first step to a cure! sounds like you have a busy life. Once you move, your daughter will be technically homeless and should be eligible for rehoming so can they not combine the two? of course not, silly me, this a government department I am talking about! this computer is playing silly buggers this morning, keeps moving text around! Sounds like you have a good social worker though! thanks for your story. xxx :)
