I'm not an expert but i got £130 off my electric.I wrote to them requesting a form due to being on DLA, as soon as it came i filled it in and was awarded the amount above. My gas and electric are both the same tariff.I can't tell you anymore than that but you should get CWP.jacksiex

I forgot, i meant to say i have a key in my electric, i pay as you go.The end of December i went to top up my key of £10 and had £140 automatically put on it,you can imagine my face i thought they had made a mistake at the shop, until i realised.Try getting in touch with your local care, they could put you in the right direction.jacksiex

Hi jacksie,

Do you mind me asking if you are working and receive DLA or an older person retired?

Thanks for that, iam putting £50 a week in my electric as I'm all electric and it's so cold can't do without it . What about cold weather payments ? Can I get that as I think it's about £25 a week extra

I'd have thought you should be on it, give them a ring.

Hi, I just read your post, I had told a few people that are on benefits with young children to apply for this but didnt realise I could apply as I am on DLA and IB just checked scottish power site and I should be eligible so I have applied. Only thing is says have to have been with them since April 2012. I been with Scottish power for many years , but changed my address in September, and stayed with Scottish Power. Hopefully I will get it, If I do I;ll let you know. It would be very helful because I am also sitting with the heating off as I cant afford it. I sit with a duvet on me in the evening, and don't have hot water as I cant afford it. ( I have storage heaters and immersion heater) which cost a fortune. The only hot water I use is for the shower. Thanks for the above link.

as far as i am aware if you are entitled to it they pay it automatically and you do not have to claim. i have only been on benefits a few months after giving up work due to ill health and i received my cold weather payment of £25 this week.

If your on contribution based ESA,you're not entitled to cold weather payments. If your on income based they pay you automatically, hope this helps-I've never had cwp either.x
