I can not believe what I have just read in The Independant newspaper,if you Google...disabled man abandoned on second floor...it will come up,basically it is absolutely disgusting what ATOS did...they live up to their name...don't give ATOS!..xx
I can't believe what I have read...AT... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
I can't believe what I have read...ATOS abandon man in fire...disgusting!!
Unbelievable. Why are they assessing disabled people in a building that is not suitable for purpose - oh yeah! That's right! Because they don't believe that these people are really disabled! It was probably part of their plan to find out whether or not he really was disabled!
Its training. When I worked in a care home we had to do the same thing. I hated it, but we were told Rules is rules
Yep rules are great things when I worked with disabled young people we were told if they run into the road you can't grab them and stop them as its assault, crazy crazy, fortunately for me it never did , but one of the staff had to restrain someone from trying to strangle a staff member and yup they were reprimanded for it... I left that job soon after

I had never thought of ATOS as "Don't give a t***s" I like it! Made me chuckle. XX
I think it says a lot about the people who work there!
When I started Uni, a plan was put together because you can't use the lifts in an emergency. I was shown the safe places on each floor where there is an intercom so I can notify security staff of my location so they can come and get me. One of the buildings doesn't have the intercoms so I have to notify the reception staff when I arrive and leave so they know I'm there. This was all done before I even had a lecture!
If I saw someone that needed help and I was in the position to do something about it, I couldn't just walk away - rules or no rules!
This make me feel so sick. What would have been the outcome if the fire was real. OK so now they say it won't happen again. But it shouldn't have happened in the first place.
If you are in a building and because of fire, you can't use the lifts. they are supposed to provide an evac-chair so you can be carried safely down the stairs.
(I've been in an evac-chair and they are horrid, must have been designed by an able bod)
This means of course that you have to leave your manual or electric wheelchair behind. Sure hope their insurance company is willing to pay up....
