Itching all over.

I recently readthat a lot of fm sufferers get itching all over. I have just found out that Bio Oil is really good at calming it down. I was itching so bad one nite that i thought i was going to go mad. My daughter uses Bio Oil on scares on her face and she left it in the bathroom so as a last option i covered nearly my whole body with it and the itch has very significantly reduced. Wish i had found this a long time ago. I rub it all over every night. Anybody else found a better solution.

That's really good to know, sasadr! I have some Bio oil which I use on my raggy cuticles, but I've never used it on itchy skin - will try it.

One word of caution; if you are taking a great deal of medication, it might be worth while checking with your GP, as generalised itching can be a sign that your liver is a bit irritated - common in people on heavy medication.

Sounds as though your itching is due to dry skin, tho - in which case you have it sorted!

My doc has checked out my liver and it is working fine. Think it is the only bit of me working ok. I have always been an obssesive moituriser so it isnt that. The Doc thought it might be the Tramadol but after changing to another painkiller the itching was still there. Waiting for an appointment with my specialist to see if he can sort it out.

I get itching but I never put anything on it. I will try this if I do not come up with another answer xxxxx

I get itchy everywhere, all the time. The only thing that helps is mousturiser. My skin is horribly dry. I was diagnosed with subcutaneous eczema a few days after giving birth to my daughter, who is 7 next week. When I scratch, I come up in big angry red welts, and if I keep scratching I bleed easily. As I said, mousturiser is the only thing that helps, and lots of it.

Itching can be a symptom of Fibromyalgia but it can also be a side effect from our medication so it would be worth checking this out with your GP. Mention your itching, explain where you itch and I am sure your GP will determine whether the itching is indeed Fibromyalgia or perhaps something to do with the meds you are taking.

I hope you have some comfort from this very soon. (((hug))) xxx

Bio oil is full of parabens that are absorbed into the body and then just sit there in the tissues cos the body cannot excrete them. Parabens have been found in cancerous breast tissue. They may not cause cancer ( tests are ongoing) but they should not be in our bodies. Rose oil is better for you, great for scaring and nothing horrible to soak into our tissues.

Thanks for this. I will try to get some rose oil to see if it helps.

Soft itchy hugs

I have looked around for some info on whether Bio Oil is potentially cancerous and there are some quite frightening comments on the internet. I know we shouldn't necessarily believe all we read out there, but in my personal opinion if there is the slightest doubt I wouldn't risk it. Apparently the controversy comes from Bio Oil's origin, it is rumoured to come from crude oil and this is where the problem lies. Whether it actually does or not, I honestly don't know.

If you are worried at all by this, Rosehip oil is a beautiful oil to use, as are some of the base oils for massage like Sweet Almond and even plain old Sunflower Oil. Obviously check for allergy first. These may be "safer" and more reassuring options until medically proven one way or the other for Bio Oil.

Hope this helps folks and thank you Cat for drawing our attention to this. :)

Thanks i didn,t know this or i would never have bought it in the first place. My daughter was attacked by a dog and her face was badly scared and she has already had cancer when she was 6. I will be putting the bio oil in the bin. It was recomended by the hospital.

Trouble is if you check your shower gels, shampoo, soaps, moisturisers, just about everything we slather on. Cleanse with even ointments from the doctor, contain parabens. If you want to stop using them then shop organic. But it costs. However it's worth doing a bit at a time, you will notice a huge difference in the radiance of your skin. Message me if you want more info. Denmark is the first country to ban the use of parabens in children's products......bet it takes our lot a while to catch up! Nano's are the next thing. Scientists are looking to make the molecules in products smaller so that they penetrate the body deeper. A physicist friend has told me...'avoid Nanos' they are bad news. Have taken his warning to heart.

To be honest if you want a good cheap oil for moisturising etc then go for olive oil. It's 100% natural and does the job. I find it too greasy, but it beats parabens hands down!

I don,t use soap at all and have always tried to buy organic. The soap i use in the shower is organic olive oil soap so not really soap if you know what i mean. I never could use smelly soaps on my skin because the smell makes me sneeze my brains out. not a lot of them left now i think so need to be careful. lol

Well that's good then. I only found out about this stuff a few months ago, have switched to organic for everything now. Can't believe how different my skin looks now.
