I got a letter from them saying they had put me in the work related support group or something. I've not been called for a medical, all I need to do is turn up at the job centre every 3 months and have a chat with my support worker and come home again for another 3 months. She's suggested I try and get back to doing a small amount of volunteer work after the winter and then I can just coast along without any hassle.

It sounds like they have done the same with you. Take the money and try not to worry :)

It means you get extra money and will not be bothered by them again till next April. When they will review it or automatically extend it

I am also in the support group, so I get an extra 30 something quid on top of the 70 something which is the minimum the government states you need to live on. You will get a letter every so often to go for a work focused interview where they will ask how you are doing, suggest you try volunteering and so on. The lady I see has a freind with Fibro, so she knows how bad it can get, so I guess I am lucky to see her. I did start to volunteer (which they like) for a disability organisation and it gave me a sence of worth again which is ultimately why they like you to do it. The organisation has recently gone bust, but as I knew it was coming, a freind and I founded our own disability organisation and next year when we have the project funding in, I am planning on taking a paid role. I will be able to do the hours I want (or can) do as I am not going to sack myself now am I. If I hadn't done this I beleive that I probably wouldn't be able to get or hold down a job as no employer (even though it is discrimination) will employ someone that will have elevated sick days and medical appointments to attend. The DWP don't seem to understand this and in my opinion, all employers should be forced to have a percentage of disabled people on their workforce.
