I have been getting very sharp pains in my ribs and my stomach and the pain is making me pass out.

I have been put on morphine to help the pain.

Has anyone ever had this happen??

Yes, I had it happen a few weeks ago. I was lieing in bed and the pains were out of this world, I had no idea what else I coud do ..... and then I woke up in the morning; I can only assume I passed out and then went into a deep sleep. At least I was in a safe place to pass out.

yes, I've had this a few times, once I came round, with a lady looking very worried, holding my mobility scooter keys - I'd passed out while out on my scooter! I am thankful that I was on a path, not crossing a road!

Funny enough I felt like that today at work, I was in so much pain I felt like my body was going into some kind of shock and I felt like I was going to pass out, so yes you most certainly can pass out with excessive pain! Why on earth does anyone have so suffer like this! Love and hugs to all that have any health problems! Annie xx

Hi all

I think it is the bodys way of coping. Some people can cope others can't. A friend of mine who doesn't have fibro always passes out with bad pain. I don't think it is a side effect of fibro though. I think sometimes we all wish we would pass out with pain (in a safe place of course) at least it would stop the pain!

Piggie. Hugs xxxxxxx

I would suggest if anyone is actually passing out as a result of their pain that they please speak to their GP's about this. We would all hope that we had sufficient pain relief and pain management that this shouldn't happen. Explain exactly how you feel and what happens to your GP to see if your meds need reviewing or changing or whether you need any treatments.

It might also be worth enquiring about being referred to a Pain Clinic to help you manage your pain better hopefully.

It is always best to speak to your Doctor about anything like this just to be on the safe side and also to rule out any other possible illnesses or conditions.

Please be careful folks :)

All,

I have nearly passed out several times when reaching fr things and cranking my neck backwards: my rheumy has just sugested that it might be because i'm trapping an artery when I do that - this would explain my heart banging against my chest trying to get the blood back up to my brain...

Just a thought...

Until you see your docs please be careful and try not to put yourself in risky positions...

Take care

Gary
