Hands don't work ?: Hi All, Can you... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Hands don't work ?
Yes...to the point of not being able to use them at all....
Thanks Benjamina - new to all this Fibromyalgia horrible stuff - Gill
Hello there Gillian, your symptoms sound like my Osteoarthritis, have you been checked out for this. It was hard to tell in my case when I was diagnosed with it, I didn't have knobbly knuckled at that stage, so sometimes it's hard to tell ourselves. Might be worth speaking to your GP about this.
Also of course, your symptoms could be Fibromyalgia - thisis part of the Fibro frustration, some symptoms overlap other conditions, so it's always best to get it checked out.
Hope you get some answers soon, take care.
I had all the tests for osteo...no sign even with my hands and fingers knuckles swelling right in front of their eyes..they were astounded...can only type through voice speech now...
I have arthritis but this sounds a lot like another problem on top that I have - CARPAL TUNNEL. Speak to your gp you need NERVE CONDUCTION STUDY to confirm which needs treatment because it will get worse over period of time. Good luck. Please check it out.
Yes I do get this, not got arthritis in my hands, same as heavy leg pain so feels like fibro pain to me. I too have problems with grip at times, but comes and goes, also effects my wrists. Still get it checked out though, I thought my severe toe pain and stiffness was fibro, but after x ray found out it is arthritis in my toes. We tend to put everything down to fibro so always best to get it checked as it is not always the case. Hope this helps, got a feeling I might have confused you more, LOL! X
Hi
I also get heavy hands and swelling of the fingers to the extent where I had to have my wedding rings had to be cut off. I too was checked for other arthritis's the tests came back negative. The doctors have put it down to fibro they sent me for physio and now have got a physio programme I do at home and they also gave me hand supports to relieive the pain and swelling. Hope this helps xx
Thank you all so much for your replies, and bbfreak you couldn't possibly confuse me anymore than I am. I understand that you can have flare ups with this condition, but lasting 6/7 weeks ? or is this how its going to be ? I went back to work on a phased return, and it's been really difficulty, the first few days I only did 8.00 to 11.30 and managed to just stare at my computer screen for 2 of those hours. I just want to pull myself together and get over it like always have when I have been ill, but just can't shake this off, should I stop trying too ?
You guys all sound so positive which is helping me, thanks again - Gill xx
My Hands are like that and I have had nerve studies which showed Carpel tunnel as an issue...I saw the rhuematologist this week who is lovely and gave me a full once over even changing another med given by ent and telling me she was on my side and giving me loads of advice and time to talk ...going to have injections in my wrists in Jan as she wants me to get my other current health issues with my breathing and allergies and sleep study before giving me anything else.
I personally feel alot of my problems are hormone linked and my problems/ pain alters depending on the time of month....usual doctors all dismissing this however I think I know my own body...lovely consultant actually listens and believes me.
I struggle with my job 2 weeks out of 4 and am in agony after shifts that make me just want to cry...so far have not gone sick as I don't get paid. I have changed the way I present my work to make life easier for me...funny thing is nobody has noticed!
