can anyone tell me why all gps are asking patients to cut down or stop taking sleeping tablets? .

Ihave resorted to herbal tabs b ut not as good as sleeping tabs from doc help my sleep pattern is all over the place am not sleeping well at all

I listened to jeremy Vines radio show in Radio 2 recently and thewas a report about taking sleeping tablets and the main thing that came out of it was that they are highly addictive and because of that doctors don't like giving them, if they do it is only for a couple of weeks.

I Squidley I take Trazodone about 7 years for keep safe from my dreams I start with 100mg and now 50mg but is the only way i have to sleep without remember my dreams. before i dreamed all night and some times i dreamed with something I wake and later when I follow a sleep again i continued in the same dream like episodes.

Sorry can't remember when but doctors have been told for a number of years not to prescribe sleeping tablets as they are additive, so they tend not to,will sometimes prescribe them as short term relief

Apart from the long term effects medication has on us and also the unknown effects I think it would also come down to money too.

However I am sure all the pharmaceutical love the fact we all take so many meds...more money for them!!! x

I found Amitriptyline works quite well for a good nights sleep. Only took it when I really needed to for the pain.

They reported that sleeping pills can actually shorten your life! But then told us to keep taking them...*sighs*
