Pain Threshold

I had a tooth out on Wed 6th July, and have been taking pain killers everyday since. Have been back to the dentist who says it is taking a long time to heal, and because I have Fibro probably my pain threshold isn't very strong. Has anyone else experienced this. Back to the dentist again Tuesday, ouch !!

Hi GillV :) I know the feeling well - I suffered for years everytime I had a tooth out but never said anything and just put up with it!!! Then after having a tooth removed I was in agony for weeks so went back to my Dentist - I was then told I suffered with " dry sockets " as I don't bleed a lot afterwards so therefore I end up with an infection there!!! Problem solved :) I now get put on anti biotics straight away and don't have any problems just the normal discomfort! I wonder if this could also be your problem - worth a mention to your Dentist!!

Hope you soon get some relief, lots of soft caring hugs, angel xx

The dentist said that I do have dry sockets. I've had anti-biotics didn't due a lot. Also she xrayed me to see if anything left and that was clear. I'm going back tomorrow, the pain has eased a little, but still noticeably there. Thank you very much for your concern, it is appreciated x x

YES! but i now see a speca=ialist dentist at hospiyal. she requires that i take extra pain meds and higher diazapam 24hrs before i go. then she uses gas and air on me as well as 3 types of local anisthetic. sometimesw she can do the treatment and othertimes we have to leave it due to pain. i'm 8days past the last treatment and am still in pain, not from the tooth but my jaw! all down to the fibro! but things are deefinatly better with the specailist then the regular dentist.

Thanks for your answer. I am due at the dentist tomorrow. I suppose my pain has gone from an 8/10 to about a 5/10 so hopefully I am getting there.
