Upper right abdominal pain.

I was wondering if any one else on here has ever had problems with upper right abdominal pain?

I have fibro, IBS, back pain. Since January and on the back of catching Covid 19 I have been experiencing deep pain sort of underneath my ribs and across my abdomen. I have had an ultrasound scan and it's not gallstones as first expected. The doctors seem to feel its muscoskeletal. I take paracetamol and ibroprophen. Thanks. Xx

Me too - I read all of these and I’ve had the same I’ve been to A&e and had to have IV morphine as the pain was soo bad and I’ve stayed in over night only to be released with no further action or more scans etc but all come back ok - it’s so strange how this illness manifests itself and all the similarities we have x

I get sharp pains in the ribcage area but been told Fibro not my RA. So just getting used to it unfortunately. Sometimes a warm hot water bottle helps too for me.

Hi, sorry to hear about your pain. I too suffer with that, sometimes it’s incredibly painful but most of the time it feels like the pain when you have a stitch after the inning for a while ( not that I’ve been able to do that for a long time!)I had NASH a few years ago ( Fatty liver disease) which caused the same pain. It all corrected itself through diet but now it’s back & worse. I’ve got an appointment in a couple of weeks that I’ve waited 8 months for to see a consultant to see a liver specialist again. I didn’t realise Fibro can affect so many things, just hoping they can sort it out for me.

Have you had blood tests MRi etc to see if it could be your liver? If not, may be worth you getting it checked out? Mine was only found when I had pneumonia a few years back!

Good luck !

Thank you for sharing your experiences. After posting this yesterday morning I received a call from my G.P. to say that blood has shown up in my stool sample so I am now being referred for an urgent colonoscopy.

Yes all normal

I was told mine was due to gas from acid reflux. Lanzaprazole has cured it so probably right and I do suffer with GERD but not had this before.

That's where your gall bladder resides, could be the cause

Oh my god - I had a flare that literally lasted about 6 months with right side upper pain! They thought on numerous hospital admissions it was appendicitis then ovarian cysts then they just didn’t know - I would have such excruciating pain. I was worried it was all sorts of things from cancer to bowl issues - it’s not there all the time anymore thankfully but it can come and go. I do have IBS and ovarian cysts and I don’t have the best bowl movements - I never got to the bottom of it but I have lost some weight and eating healthier amd the pain dare I say it has gone. I used to also get middle of my breast pain as well that was sharp and really hurt - all these pains and they move it’s so hard to get an answer for them - sometimes now I just accept it’s a new fibro symptom but I guess that’s not great as I’m not a doctor and it could be anything. I’m fed up of going to the doctors to be told there isn’t anything they can do and it’s just fibro or even worse it’s in my head. I hope your pain eases wishing you all the best x x I also wanted to say I have had cameras in both bum and throat and had very bad acid reflux so am on ta let’s for that each day. I also have blood in my stool I’ve had that for over 9 years but every sample and test comes back ok. It does worry me as I know that’s not normal - pls let me know how you get on? Xxx

Thank you for your reply. I am still having the pain but it's become more manageable. It's also evolved and aches most of the time and sends shooting pains if I breathe in deeply. Regarding the blood in stools, unfortunately I have been diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in my rectum. Apparently this isn't the cause of the upper right pain. I am having a CT. Scan and MRI Scan on 27th May before a treatment plan is put in place. Not the outcome I was expecting.

Perhaps your bleeding is from piles. Xx
