hi ruby its not silly at all its natural to worry about the out come, but at least you will have a diagnosis and you can move onto treatment or what ever the next stage is. Ive had a number of mri's and they arent too bad.
good luck, poppy xx
Hey Ruby, gentle hugs.
The MRI machine can be rather daunting - as it's closed in and noisy. Have been inside the thing for 2 scans so far and I found as long as I took a few deep breaths to help me relax and then shut my eyes I was fine. Though I'm one of those people of a mindset that, if it's going to do me good in the long term - then just go for it. I tend to take anything medical in my stride - be it needles to take bloods or major operations. But that's me. Just stay as calm as you can, breathe deeply before you gone in, shut your eyes and before you know it, it's all over. Good luck.
Love,
Carol xxx
I have had several MRI scans for various things. The newer ones (including the one at St Thomas) play music on radio or cd which helps. There is a button you are given to hold so that you can press it if you want to speak to the operator and they usually tell you when they are going to do each part of the scan, They should make sure you are comfortable and warm enough before you go into the tunnel. Sometimes there is a mirror so that you can see out into the room.
It is scary the first time but like Carol says take a few deep breaths and then shut your eyes. It is surprising how quickly the time goes.
Good luck
Caroline
Hi, I have had numerous mri's. Just lay back and enjoy the music they should play through the headphones they will put on you. They give you a buzzer to hold if you have had enough. You will be fine.
Hi ruby,

it will be okay i am afraid of closed spaces so closed my eyes before i went in and they told me about the drumming noise . when it started i switched my mind onto other things and actually fell asleep weird woman that i can be. they guy was amazed to say the least when he had to wake me up we fibro birds can sleep on a perch if we have to lol. keep us updated think of flowers and butterflies and we are with you at all times.butterfly hugs petal.
Please do not worry about this if it's the scanner that frightens you I went though this I had many mri scans but never beening put all the way in the last one I had my whole body put in I had a panic attack and could nt go though with it but ask the nurses if you can a pair of glasses that when you open your eyes all you can see is the outside of the room you cannot see the inside of the scanner at all the field of vision is all the outside I wish that had offered me these before I went into the scanner it would have enabled me to have this scan they also give you ear phones with music being put though great I wish you well get it done and whatever the outcome move on wards and upwards x
Hi all
As you all said my scan was nothing to worry about
Thanks for all your reassurance
