hydrotherapy: I am being referred to... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
hydrotherapy
It is brilliant, soothing but exhausting at the same time! It's so hard to get out of the pool at the end of a session but worth it! X x x enjoy!
It is absolutely wonderful. The water is body temperature and this helps to relax your muscles and take your pain away. You may be asked to do very gentle movements in the water to help you even more. Afterwards, I used to feel like a new woman and full of energy. I would also have the best night's sleep.
Good luck and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

With reference to CurlySue's point about getting in and out of the pool - some pools like the one I went to had a sling / chair you sat in which was lowered into the water. They also showed me after a few visits how to get into the pool without hurting myself - no ladder like steps to use - just proper steps. S.x
Hi curlysue yes I remember when I had it at the Mineral hospital it's good but exhusting does good though soft hugs ))) Allan
I go every week and have done for about 8 or 9 years.. I have recently posted about it on this thread

Good luck, you will enjoy it. Its the only exercise that I can manage. xx
Well worth it! I thought it was wonderful. Give it a go, you won't regret it
i love it, wish i could keep going. down here they do offer 6 sessions for £26, but as they have stopped my DLA i cannot afford it any more.
give it a go, i'm sure you will love it
It's soooo wonderful. I actually pay for my time in the pool myself. They're only charging me £15.00 a month. The reason I went this route, instead of NHS, is because it's walking distance from my house. Sometimes I still drive.lol I have the pool to myself, 3 times a week, for an hour each time. They are also kitted up with winches, if someone needed them. It's a school, that caters to to abled and disabled kids.
I do my stretches and some laps. I also just float sometimes. It's great. There is a changing and shower area.
As a matter of fact, I can bring up to 6 people with me at no extra charge. If anyone lives near Canary Wharf and is interested, let me know. There's only one downside. The time allotted to me is from 7am to 8am. I'm used to it now. The days I chose are M,W & F. But this week for instance, I wasn't feeling up to it on Monday so I went today, Tuesday.
I am sincere about the offer if anyone is interested.
xx

Inspired by the comments, i asked my GP to refer me for hydrotherapy - and he has done! Can't wait
I talked to my physiotherapist yesterday, my consultant said she can't/won't and my GP said he can't either but enjoy it. I will keep fighting. x
Hi, I have had treatment at our local Hydro pool about 2 years ago. Can I say it was the best I have felt for soooooo long. The temperature of the pool helps you
relax &
do the exercises without the pain.Yes, it will take a few sessions to get used to it .but it is marvelous. At the moment I am 1st on the list for another session. Hope it won't take too long though, my body is so sore even doing nothing.
Lash, just enjoy every minute you can get in the hydro pool.
Rozzyb, You are one lucky lady. Are you doing this privately? This sounds like heaven to me. Wish I could get your refferral luv.
Why oh why does the NHS not have the same facilities all over the country. Fibro Hugs to all. ((((O)))). X
