Thank you sheelagh for replying at least i can relate it fibro, you may be able to answer this question sometimes when have managed to get some sleep I have tried to turn but cannot because my neck seems to be stuck so i have to lift top part of body soican turn on to my side would that be sort of cramp or another problem that one can expect with good old fibro

I get a lot of cramp to, I dare'nt stretch in bed otherwise legs go. Sometimes my hands go into real spasm and the whole hand is distorted and looks weird. Also i often feel as if I've done something to my legs but I think its probably after effects from cramp. Dr once said eat more salt which is mad as they tell you not to eat to much usually!

Have a good day

My hands are terrible for cramping, and i do get it in my toes but not as bad as my hands.

My legs go in cramp at night when they have finally rested, typical, I think its their way of telling me to stop lol.

Hi manc46,

Oh yes m'lovely all the time, mostly toward the end of the day, my feet and toes contort into something you'd expect to see in the Exorcist and it goes right up my shins. My hands are not so bad though.

Hey Ho! the joys of living with Fibro.

happy hugs, kate :)

hi manc46

i get cramp and pins and needles in my arms and hands when i sleep and cramp a lot in my legs. my sports therapists said its because our muscles seem to hold tension a lot longer and we get the tension as we are pain and so tense up. then because we are tense and the muscles stiff our nerves get trapped and this is what causes the pins and needles in legs and arms when you lie and sit in certain positions. we also get cramp a lot as our muscles are so tense we find it hard to drain the lactic acid from them and the blood flows through them slower or something to that affect and so we get cramp. i get it in my hips a lot.

i see the sports therapist for a weekly massage and it really helps, its a deep tissue massage and so breaks down the knots and the tension and so eases the pain and reduces the pins and needles. he also gave me a load stretches to do every night and this helps drain the muscles and keep the muscles supple so they don't get so stiff. all of this helps me be more flexible and helps keep the pain and stiffness somewhat reduced.

i also found that yoga really helps although i did it at much reduced level than everyone else in the class and sometimes would sit bits out so i didnt over do my muscles. just really pace yourself.

hope it helps, i know its hard to pay for some things especially if you cant work but having had this for 10 years this is the best ive managed it by using the massage, stretches and yoga. going to start aqua fit soon too :-) x

thanks jannieyes, think i will try that see what help it gives me, trouble when i do some exercise the pain i think is it worth it but will keep trying, also for some reason my body is notmaking vitiam b12 have injections every 3months wonder if that could be connected to good old fibro. glad i could help

try doing just really gentle stretches for about 30 secs each and build up to a min. that was the best way for me to strengthen and then i started yoga after that. really small steps or you really over face yourself. vit d deficiency is another one but the supplements made no difference to me but i might not have had a low enough level to make a difference who knows!! you learn alot about your body thats for sure! good luck let me know how you go x

I get exactly the same. I also have to prise my fingers apart. Usually its my forefinger, sort of bends in and tries to go over my next finger. I put it down to texting on my phone. Its more of a nuisance than anything but can be quite painful. Not a clue if its anything to do with Fibrosis or not. Dont want to know because I am sick and tired of worrying about my health. I got health related ocd and usually end up worrying myself sick so now I dont bother . Lol

take care
