I often feel like if someone shocks me with an electric current, it is excruciating it starts in the groin and goes down to under my foot. It does not last long but when it happens it takes my breath away and I do scream at times, I scare hubby sometimes . My GP Rx Amitriptyline 15 mg but it does not help at all except that I sleep better. Has someone here experienced that I feel weird about it.

Electric shocks in left side from the groin to leg and foot

Hello, ouch sounds painful, I would differently see your doctor again , the tablets sound like they are helping your sleep , just make your doc is aware this is going on (you may have already done this )but you need answers why this is happening, take care xx
TY, this is happening for 2-3 years now. I hope to hear that there is another way to get rid of that, when I told the Dr. he just upped my Ami. from 10 mg to 30 if needed. I made an error saying 15 mg I take 3 x 10 mg. After I posted this I saw many posts titles with electric shocks I will read these I am new here and still learning how to use the site but I am not new to fibro.
After a spinal injury in 1984 I had loss of feeling below the waist. Five weeks later I had electric shocks down my right leg which were excruciating but the medical team were pleased as it showed messages were getting through once again and months later I got up on crutches. I spent two and a half years in a wheel chair, crutches then two walking sticks.
Now, 41 years later, I get those electric shocks for hours at a time down my left leg which never recovered as well and has weakness and numb areas..
It is called Parathesia.
Good luck.
Yes amitriptyline does help you sleep but maybe something like lyrica or even Cymbalta might be better for neuropathic pain as I think amitriptyline mainly for sleep recovery to in turn give you more energy to cope. Not a doctor of course just an opinion from from a fellow chronic pain sufferer that has neuropathic and mechanical pains.
Wish you well.
