Morning would just like to say thank you to everyone that commented on a post I put on about applying for a blue badge. Would just like to share my local council accepted me after an assessment, so it is possible to apply for one without pip mobility. Will make such a difference to my life. X

So pleased for you, it does make a lot of difference. 👍😀
Yes, it is possible to get one after a Council decision, even though it is automatic with High Mobility PIP. It isn't advertised though; it's something you have to research for yourself, (and You don't have to be a driver to get a Council one), you just have to rely on others for lifts.
cheers, Midori
That's great to hear. Yes you don't need to be in receipt of any benefits. I wasn't at the time I got mine. I definitely am now xx
Thank you, I've got pip standard daily living, but will ask to be reviewed when my review comes up.xx
It's the Mobility component of PIP that gets you the automatic one. I'm still on DLA, and I don't get Mobility at all, despite the fact I can hardly walk.
I don't want to go through all the darned hoops! At 76 and older than the NHS; (OK, only by 5 months and 1 day!) I'm too old for all the faffing about!
Cheers, Midori
Your welcome.
I have just had my first review after 2 years or so. I'm on the standard for both daily living and mobility but my mobility is worse now. Just awaiting the outcome that can take upto 6 weeks. Been 3 weeks already. But they still pay me so I'm not in a rush xxx
Wishing you good luck for the outcome x please let me know how you get on. I scored 4 points originally in the mobility part, but have since found out I have osteoarthritis of the knee's, which really impact my walking, but at least I got my blue badge to help me.xx
Can I ask you what did they ask you on your review, was it similar to the original pip questions.x
Hi there.
Sorry for the late reply.
They asked me all the questions from the pip assessment that was filled in with me.
I believe that the questions were the same if not similar.
Anyway I have just had my decision letter from pip.
I have been awarded the enhanced level for both parts. I scored 12 for each 8 believe (the forms are downstairs) it is also an ongoing award this time.
When I first got awarded pip the first part scored 8 and the second part mobility scored 10.
They also wrote to my gp for a report but this is probably standard.
I was pleased with how my review went. Even though I was stressed out in actual fact the assessment went well and I had no concerns with the assessor who was very thorough but equally gave me time to answer or explain my answers and was empathetic.
A good experience this time and last time.
It's how you are affected by your medical problems not the diagnosis.
I hope this helps.
I waited 6 weeks for the outcome and they will also backdate money with the increased awarded.

That's wonderful news.
