hi, I use to take it years ago it helped slightly but not like I wanted it too, also be wary as it can cause stomach issues.

Good morning , have you tried putting naproxen into search community box? There have been quite a few posts and replies on this subject you may find it helpful. Wishing you a nice weekend .

Hi Entela15, I've been on it for years and don't think it helps very much. However, I was advised to take Lanzoprazol before taking it to protect my stomach, and have recently had to reduce because of other medications and can't say I notice much difference.

Can I ask how many you take in a day?

I'm on omeprazole for stomach as I also have hiatus hernia and acid reflux but warned to try to cut back on this also as can cause damage to body.. you just can't win

I take rabeprazole with it. I intend to take it for a couple of weeks, hopefully not longer.

Hi

Naproxen did absolutely nothing for me, however I did have really good pain relief with Arcoxia.

Word of caution though, I now have CKD possibly through long term anti inflammatory use.

Short term use only and always protect your stomach with a PPI

Hi, what is CKD?

hello. I take naproxen every single day but as this medication can strip the lining of your stomach you need another pill to help stop that and I am given omeprazole. I am also on nortryptaline so both combined together it does work, I’m not saying I never have pain or fatigue etc … but I think it definitely helps, I would hate to see what I would be like off of the medication x

Hi I have same experience as you doesn't take pain away but certainly helps make it tolerable I also have hiatus hernia and take esomeprazole at first I wasn't sure naproxin was working until I stopped them and boy was pain excruciating restarted naproxin again and felt the difference in pain tolerance.i used to be on diclofanec which were really good for pain until they took them of the market as too dangerous no problem with naproxin. Hope this helps remember were all different and tolerance is different for everyone. Bless you hope you find the answer to your question.

Yep it used to be diclefenic..then that got stopped due to causing heart problems and so they replaced it here in England at my docs with naproxen as it's similar.but I had allergic reactions to it..so not allowed it.

Hi,

I was on Naproxen and also taking Lansoprazole for quite a while ( I have osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia) but my doctor wasn't keen on me taking it long term so when I had an appointment with a rheumatologist and got my diagnosis he suggested changing it to Meloxicam 1 or 2 daily, I think this is more of an anti Inflammatory but along with Amitriptyline and the occasional Codeine it works for me and keeps me going to work every day but everyone is different. Apparently they also give Meloxicam to dogs as it is gentler on your stomach. You could give it a try but make sure your given a stomach protector with it.

good luck x

Hi I take Naproxen but it is more for mild arthritis in my hands/lower arms. If you take it, take the t with food or it can cause an upset tummy. They can give you something to take alongside to prevent this.

Hi I used to be on diclefenic and it was great. then doc said I couldn't have it anymore because bad for heart. I was given naproxen as the new alternative and had allergic reactions..my auto immune system has got weird since i got fibromyalgia 19 yrs ago and other health issues .so now I have to rely on Co-dydramol when bad and have some liquid morphine that i was given by hospital for agony with problems with bile duct.. I have had to cut back on medications as pain specialist said all that I was on would damage my other organs.. so I try to only take when needed and he said to rest in bed on other days and relax.. stroke the cat... Lol

Hi

Nope doesn't work even if I've altered the dose myself either, as in taken double the amount. Initially given for Fibro, atm for a supposed nipped sciatic nerve when a disc slipped r wks ago. Even doubling to 200mg twice a day....nothing.

Love & light xx

hi there Entela15

I used to take diclofenic which worked really well but as others have said drs won’t prescribe it anymore, so now take Naproxen twice a day with food and also Lansoprazole for stomach protection, it’s not as good as diclofenic but boy do I know all about it if I don’t take it so it’s doing something, I’d say try it and see but remember always eat first. Good luck Lynda

hi sorry first post. 2 of my GP’s have said all of my symptoms are Fibromyalgia and I see that from everyone’s posts as I mirror most of you. But my friend has said that only a Rheumatologist can say it’s fibromyalgia? Can anyone help please? X

short term usage for approx 2 years as can damage your kidneys and doesn’t work straight away has to build up in your system I got a small amount of relief but my kidneys now don’t function very well as was left on this drug for 4 years until I decided to come off when I read it actually damaged kidneys if taken for too long.

I do find it noticeably helps with pain if it's joint pain.

I don't take it daily however just for a few days when I have a flare which is inflammation caused.

I have Lupus SLE as well as Fibro plus all the damage that cancer chemo, surgery and radiotherapy has done so it's a balancing act with the meds.

It's vital as others have advised to protect the gut! So an omeprazole before you take a dose and I'd strongly recommend you eat something as well.

It is also hard on the liver and kidneys which isn't a big deal as long as you eat healthy, drink plenty of water and don't drink lots of alcohol etc.

Hi Entela15I have taken Omeprazole for about 15 years for GERD. I have had Fibro for about 5 years. Tried all sorts of meds but Naproxen was the only one that worked for me. I took 500mg twice a day. I take them now when I have a flare up. They work for me but as people have said everyone is different.

Hope you find some relief.

Comfy hugs

Hiya, I was taking these a while back amongst a whole LOAD of other meds. Unfortunately they never worked for me. I just kept going back to the Dr's again & again & again until they gave me meds that worked. I couldn't tolerate pregabalin luckily because it seems a lot of people are stuck on them now. Took me 18 months but my doctor finally prescribed oramorph & zomorph which has helped my pain tremendously.

HiI was taking Naproxen for pain it really helped for a few months then I started having stomach pains, it is one of the side effects so I don't take it anymore. I'm sure it's different for everyone but as I said I found it really good for the pain.

Hope it works for you x

Yes I take it when things are bad but only one a day for a few days I may also take it for my osteoarthritis if it flares up and then I take it three times a day for a week it can be a bit hard on your stomach so the doctor gives you omeprazole, It does work in small Doses.Take care 🙂

I take it - one 500 mg tablet at dinner time. It works for my spondylitis, if I stop taking it I do notice that my pain is worse throughout my body, so it probably helps my Fibro as well.
