I have just got the result of my PIP application and they have decided I cannot be awarded anything.
I am really disappointed and also feeling tired even thinking about it. I had hoped to be able to drop a day of full time work but without PIP that won’t be possible.
Has anyone had success with an appeal? I’m not sure what happens next or how I go about doing that and how successful it might be
Really disheartened and feeling really stressed now! 😪😪😪

Sorry to hear about your PIP application. Did you ask for a copy of the assessment? This can be applied from about 2 days after your assessment. If not apply for one immediately by phoning and requesting it. Once received go through all the assessors marking and comments and mark anything you think they misunderstood and where you think you should have scored points. That will give you the basis for applying for a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR). You only get one month to get the MR in. Get supporting statements from friends/relatives/colleagues who can explain how your daily living/mobiity is affected.
The benefits and works website has lots of help on the MR or you could contact the benefits office on HU or Citizens Advice etc. Scope is another charity with helpful comments and articles on PIP.
thank you so much. I didn’t get a copy of the assessment but I will call up tomorrow for it. I have appointment with CAB tomorrow morning as well. This is very useful advice thank you so much
Good luck, don't feel down about it, they may have won the battle but they haven't won the war. The DWP often rely on folk giving up at the first hurdle.
Thank you! Am feeling pretty down this evening as I am currently in dispute with work about reasonable adjustments as well! But I very much appreciate your advice thank you
Have you had an occupational health assessment? I am so fortunate that my employers agreed to all recommendations suggested by OH assessor. If your employer does not have good reason for denying the adjustments they are leaving themselves open to a claim under The Equality Act 2010.
Yes I had OHS assessment in February. I’ve spoke to the equality commission and they said same that my employer needs to agree to my adjustments. I’m just trying to avoid another major flare up. I’m in last stages of informal discussions with them. I’ll be referring formally as a grievance if nothing gets arranged. ☹️
so sorry about your result but I have to say definitely appeal the decision I know a few people who were not granted it but won on a appeal good luck 🤞
hi, I was turned down and went through the mandatory reconsideration and was turned down again. I then took it to appeal and won. I think that it is almost a given that you get turned down at the first stage. The percentage of people who win on appeal is staggering. The whole process is exhausting and overwhelmingly awful but stick it out. Best of luck
Sorry to hear about your PIP rejection. However hard this may be right now take yourself back to why you applied in the first place.
You are struggling with your health and your illness you live with every day. Pain levels and your mindset and Capabilities.
Your next step is keep going through your Appeal process and believe in your self to get this Decision to be changed. Just because they said no does not mean this is the end of the matter. You were brave enough to put yourself forward for this benefit and therefore take the emotional side out of this task and push back and go through the paper work and the Evidence you Provided and think what you may have left out .
Take action while your frustrations are highlighted to making you feel the process is unfair. You deserve an option to take your appeal to it next level.
Look for support on this site to help you. Research your rights and ways to write your application again .
Don't give up because your worth so much more. Keep your mindset to have an attitude of achievements 👌 don't let this change you. Good luck and big hugs . Go for it girl you can do this xx
Hi, I've not been through the process myself but the cynical side of me would say I bet they turn everyone down first time 🤬! I hope you can find the energy to appeal. Best of luck x
I got turned down the first time I applied they said I never had enough evidence to support my claim,so I paid for a doctors letter a few months later and re applied.
hi, ive been going through this process since the beginning of the year. First claim i didnt get enough points, asked to see assessors report and then did a MR . Still no good so now going through appeal for tribunal. Its so draining im living on my nerves waiting all the time but im not giving up. Good luck to you xx
If I were you I’d relax & wait awhile. There were articles in the weekend papers that this Government is thinking of adopting the ideas put forward by the previous administration that people already on PIP would automatically be moved to Daily Living something & new aaplicants would need to apply for that.
Why don’t you pop into your local CAB & see if they have been given an information…rather relyiing on what we see/hear in the media.
thank you! I spoke to CAB this morning. They said not to be taking it personally and to focus on the next stage. That’s interesting that the process might change anyway!
I'm sorry they didn't accept you for P.I.P. Now you push it aside while you gather your thoughts, Put in (MR) and think how you want to fight or not, I only say or not because you may want to rest before you take your next step,🤔
What do you do for work? They may have thought, you are well enough to work you don't qualify for P.I.P, I don't know how many have said they wait for a diagnose of Fibro before they put a claim in?
As I'm sure you must know? It's not the illness, It's how you cope with everyday and how you cope on your worst day💩 If you don't get P.I.P after the MR then you will have to fight, Did you make a copy of your forms?? I used to print everything to do with any benefit forms, You can't leave it up to your memory if you have an episode of brain🧠fog through stress it can really get too difficult, Been there done that, Not a pretty picture I'm afraid.
I ran out of ink half way through the last time so wrote everything out manually,
I was in the middle of a crisis point and writing helped me to block out most of stresses by writing,
Be strong and fight for whatever you think is worth fighting for,
