How does PIP work

Hi there. In 2005 I was told that I had Fibromyalgia after a bad case of bacterial tonsillitis. It caused several joints to inflame and pretty much incapacitated me for several weeks. Flare up and issues surrounding this over the following years never payed too much attention too it just worked had minimal time off work etc. Going forward to date with DDD, bulging disc and a bladder condition thrown in for good luck I’ve finall decided too apply for PIP. Filled my form in and another appointment at GP mentioned Back up paperwork about conditions including Fibro. Oh it was only ever suspected she says. Then why tell me I’ve got it if it may/may not be. Had another appointment a few days later and she did a few tests/movements and said yes I’m going to write this up as Fibromyalgia. Dr’s replied your bladder condition will cover pip for goodness sake I need too know what’s going on not which 1 will score more points.

So I had my assessment a few days ago in Sheffield really nice lady. So my question is really. How likely is it too be awarded pip if your still going through the refer process to consultants etc. I am waiting for a referral too continence clinic but she stated that fibromyalgia can be diagnosed by her there’s no sure way to diagnose even if she refers me

Thanks I’ve a feeling I’m going too be made too look stupid now as I had put on my form 2005 diagnosis for fibromyalgia not 5 days before.

Thanks

Just keep your faith , it's horrible I know it's the worse feeling that they make you feel like your lieing. I feel that doctors within our region need educating about fibro ,your not far away from me I live Rotherham and had my assessment in Sheffield still awaiting to see if I've been awarded said it takes up to 4 weeks and am waiting patiently for the brown envelope. Hope you have some luck on your side, keep me updated.Fyi there is a support group called foggy friends check it out we meet monthly for a chat and support. Keep me updated 💝💐

Hi

It does not matter what you have as long as you have had the problems for 3 months its not awared on your illnesses but on Criteria mentioned in PIP.

It is not a diagnosis that qualifies you for PIP, it's how what you have wrong affects you on a daily basis, as set out by the PIP criteria. x

They don't really care what's wrong with you. You are assessed against a list of Daily Living and Mobility Activities and it's about what you can and can't do. The list can be found here:
