Is this just me : Is it just me or can... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Is this just me
Strange I had much the same conversation with some fellow fibro sufferers. I hate yellow! ( unlike you green is my favourite colour ) we put it down to sensory issues, someone suggested it's the luminance in yellow that affects me?I struggle with bright white too - if it's on say a tv screen I shield my eyes.
A lot of Glasgow may feel the same about some of those colours 😄
Not sure colour "favouritism" is something that has been mentioned before with fibro but it is something that does come up with ASD but do not think it is a common trait.
I honestly believe I have ADHD or Autism I tried telling my doctor a couple of months ago as I am 60 and want to know as i always knew there's something not right with me .He just put it down to fibro Brain fog
Although I obviously have favourite colours,as do most of us, with the colour yellow or bright white, it's more like it upsets me, I can't bear looking at it ? Not quite pain, but I have to stop looking at it. I find the feeling hard to describe. It's like it's just too much, in a similar way that a lot of noise going on all at once is confusing and over stimulating ?
Bright lights I am the same I have to be careful of the lighting in my house like on the xmas tree etc.Same with noise I can't even cope if the tv is on and my partner is listening to something on his phone, I am always telling him off to listen to one thing at a time
hi there it’s Red with me, can’t live with it, it angers me I suppose a bit bullish lol. I believe I’m on the spectrum for ASD. Hope this helps
Hi Tg 😊🌿🌸🦋
I’m so sorry you’re having such problems. Decades ago I started with fluorescent lime green. Then problems with looking outside and seeing pink grass and cement. White is unbearably bright. Hate gray. I’m so sensitive I have to wear my sunglasses indoors especially under lights and viewing TV. Cell phone must be on low background light or black background and white letters. I also hate Hate HATE ochre yellow absolutely won’t tolerate it and I’m an artist using acrylic and watercolor paints.
I understand and empathize with you hun.
Take care and best wishes always.
Love and prayers.
EJ 🤗♥️🥰🙏🕊🌿🌸🦋
Thank you for your replies. I understand were you are all coming from.
I just thought it was me but thought I'd just put it out there to see if anyone replies.
Blue red and cream I feel most comfortable with in my house .
I am comfortable wearing colours except yellow green orange I never buy purples but my work top is purple.
Have a lovely day ❤
No, I think your strangely weird !😉😉
There's a green I can't stand that horrid green associated when you have a cold and bringing up stuff when you cough🤢🤢🤢my home is all pastels and my furnishes make a loud bang of colour
I hear you; I cannot abide the colour pink, neither Barbie nor baby. Coral and peach I love, and even Fuschia is fine.
I have a tendency to dress neutrally with colour
Neon shades I have problems with as well, Odd isn't it!
Cheers, Midori
This has been a really interesting post with the question and the replies. (I've recently also been reading bits online about people with high sensitivity.) Is it significant I wonder that your question has come up in summer Tommygurl. Lots of colour around and probably some of us struggling to fill flower pots with splashes of soul fulfilling loveliness and not knowing what to wear either because it's still cold half the time and you feel you should brighten up a bit as it's supposed to be summer! Huh!
Maybe very far back we depended on certain colours for survival or healing is all I can think. Am also thinking lots more people now may experiment with colours when they can because we can buy paints so readily. - From own recent domestic experience families can get quite involved and emotional when trying to agree on colours for shared rooms. Kids always seem to know what they want most of in their bedrooms and pregnant women are notorious for painting walls in strange and abnormal colours. Had a neighbour who went overboard with her choice once. She repainted when her rational mind returned to her!
I'm sitting typing this in my small dining room which I now call the rainbow room. It was recently such a mess of paperwork and ancient small toys until I bought some rainbow coloured plastic drawer stacks to add to the lego decorated lego boxes. My friend from across the pond (who does rainbows big time) recently brought her son and two age 10 plus grandkids who got to interact on one of the days with my g'daughters. Feels like the room has been blessed now with their energy. - Have had the downstairs in such a mess for ages but feel I can work and type in here now. - Thinking of green though because I can see a tall tree across my neighbour's garden.... Green growth overwhelms and hides things. It can poison and prick us as well as be calming and it's the misleading stuff on a pond I walked into once as a child thinking it was grass. Yep! Sometimes there is too much green ... Enjoy summer. My three yellow snapdragons in the yard just want say a respectful hi. The child in us can still make them talk (by pressing their sides for anyone who doesn't remember) and I think that's our minds growth time when we get most of our impressions of colour and light! Cheers!
Sad you miss out on colours. I'm opposite i absolutely adore colours and my house is very in colourful. I cannot deal with bright light, or noise and smells but that is due to chronic migraines.
I also can't deal with bright lights smell and noise these can also bring on a migraine x
