mine started with it being just when I walked too far or drove .
but now it’s each and everyday & not necessarily after walking .
I am in terrible pain I just want to know is it fibromyalgia or something else ?
The pain comes from the groin down my leg to my toes like an electric shock even making my leg jump in spasm .
Any one else feels this ?
my body has got worse 3 years , my hands cramp up , my arms ache so much the pain is unbearable all over . My head had a very deep pain in the side & pain in my ears throat & tongue .
It’s all weird but I guess it comes with the diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Memory is not great in that I forget where I put things .

Hi… it sounds like you could have labral tear in your hip. If you have pain running down the front of your thigh it is mostly likely from your hip. They can do mri scans where they put dye into your hip joint first and any tears will then show up on the scan. I definitely think that even if pain is from somewhere else or an injury not related to fibromyalgia we feel the pain more intensely. The first step is speaking to your doctor.
I contacted my GP it goes to triage they answered one question and dismissed the other without an appointment. I’m still trying to get one my next decision this weekend is calling 111 for help
I was referred to a consultant physiotherapist and they referred me for the mri after moving my leg a particular way. The sharp pain you get when they move it this certain way is a pretty much definite diagnosis of labral tear and the mri confirmed it. I actually had surgery which due to other complications it made it worse so I now use a wheelchair. Andy Murray, the tennis player had the same operation and there is a documentary about it on prime. It didn’t go well for him either. Fortunately for him he had the money to pay for a new hip that is like bionic! It’s worth watching to get more of an understanding of the condition. Using a walking stick helped me and you need to use the stick on the opposite side or you’ll end up with back problems, I’ve had intensive back surgery too 🙄 hope you get sorted.
I’ve struggled with leg pain and weakness in the legs for years after having injections, various tablets etc etc nothing worked to recently being diagnosed with fibromyalgia &osteoporosis. I have sticks for when I need them now. Thinking of you it’s not easy!!!!
I have groin/leg pain. I have seen a physio and am now paying to see an osteopath who is very good. Both say the pain is coming from my back, L1 and L2 region. After the osteopath has worked on it the pain goes and gradually comes back after about a week or so. I find lying and sitting cause the most pain I can’t get comfortable in bed at night
I have also had chronic facial, head and tongue pain for many many years. I’ve seen several specialists including a neurologist and a maxillo-facial surgeon. Been to the dental hospital etc but no one can find a specific cause. It’s just ‘atypical’ pain and I’ve had to learn to manage it. Not easy when my gp now wants to take me off co-codamol. I don’t have an effective alternative for pain so not sure what I’m to do 🤷♀️😩
I’m the same when I go to gp everything is put down to fibromyalgia.
My son has severe fibromyalgia and he has been complaining that his legs are so painful spasms and a lot of pain in his family jewels too he also has most of the symptoms you have mentioned 😢
I to have the electric shock pain up and down my legs also my arms,
I don’t actually have to be doing anything for this to happen and for the past year it has been daily! The orthopaedic consultant has said it is just part of the fybro but and guess everyone is different and can see different symptoms and levels of pain so you should see your doctor or call your consultant if you have one.
I have a direct number to the consultants PA which is great if I’m having a bad flair up they at least speak to me over the phone more often fit me in for a consultation.
You have just described me! It's awful isn't it? I've tried everything but so far nothing helps. I walk and do pilates but they aggravate the pain. I'm sending you gentle hugs.....Julie
morning. I have leg pain constantly and my calf muscles are permanently tight and contracted. I also have restless legs and my legs jerk and spasm when I’m asleep. They’re worse after alcohol. I also get restless arms sometimes.
I take pramipexole for the restless legs, which does help.
I do also get muscle spasms at the top of my legs and in my big toe which is now also numb. I’ve had a MRI on my lower back and other than arthritis no reason for the numbness was found.
In my case it is the fibromyalgia, but don’t assume any new symptoms are due to fibromyalgia, talk with your consultant or Dr.
I am also constantly loosing my keys and my handbag if I don’t put them in the same place all the time.
Although I recognise you may have an acute tear problem. I have numerous other ailments alongside fibromyalgia and in part treating them seem to have helped my disabilitating hip/ leg pain/ stiffness … improving my vitamin and mineral levels notably vit D( with K2), B12 ( and other Bs), folate and ferritin to within at least halfway thru range. The Gp surgery tends to say blood tests are ‘normal’ when they are barely in range. I also have regular spinal manipulation from a gentle McTimoney trained chiropractor who loosens up the hips, and consequently the legs.
Leg pain is a symptom of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and should be checked out by a vascular surgeon who would order an ultrasound and lipid panel blood test.
Hi, my pain is constant in my feet and has been for 8 years now. At times I get unbearable pain in my legs that is like a super cramp but now I often get it down my shin’s where there’s no muscle for it to be cramping. I am on Quinine sulphate and Magnesium which helps cramps but sometimes I wake up crying in pain (I am a 53 year old 6’ male and have a lot of tolerance for pain. It tends to last at least half an hour and I have recently started rubbing Voltarol PLUS into the shins. It might be helpful I am not sure but it does seem to keep me from crying while I’m occupied
hi Suffering2021 sorry to hear you in awful discomfort and debilitating pains 👋
I have had these issues since sept 2021 after covid and got no help until 2022 advised by consultant lupus raynards connective tissue disease hypertension and recently fibromyalgia!
Using sticks and knee supports that warm my joints up and help but only limited amount.
I am on gaberpentin to help it’s taking edge off but may be even better suited for some people I hope you get help you need and take care.
This link explains allot and makes you think it’s not always fibromyalgia so really is worth getting checked out 😀
Oh poor you, You should Talk to a GP asap, Not everything is Fibro, Someone will shrug stuff off and before you know it you'll be in the stook,
If it's the same terrible crap I get It sounds like sciatica to me, It can creep up and bite you on your butt, It's to do with nerves, It is the biggest nerve in your body mines related to back issues, Please go to your GP
Just a thought, if the GP won't see you, in some areas you can self refer yourself to the Physio, this also falls under the NICE guidelines, if they can't help then they can refer you onto the pain clinic, again this falls under the NICE guidelines, alternatively ask the GP to refer you to the pain clinic. The pain clinic will be able to look at both physical and occupational health and CBT treatment... basically thats where patients go for chronic pain when no other department will have them.. !!
