Good news: I'm feeling more positive after switching doctors, and even though they haven't given me new painkillers I'm struggling but starting to get used to not popping pills 24/7 Also feeling a lot more hopeful since joining this site, getting lots of lovely and supportive comments
Bad news: I have developed a new pain in my right leg, it is often as if there's an elastic band around my calf and I get shooting pains all the way up and down the entire leg. I sometimes have a feeling as if something is pressing on the side of my lower leg too, but there's never anything there. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

I thought that the elastic band feeling was odd for fibro too, but I asked my new doctor when I went to see her. She checked it and although the leg is very sensitive and the joints particularly painful she said she couldn't feel anything out of the ordinary. I'll keep an eye on it for swelling and be sure to go back if it changes. I'm guessing it's a new part of my fibro pain, just hope it goes away soon!
It is very tempting to just put new symptoms down to Fibro, so I'm glad you've had it checked out.
I'd keep an eye on it though.
I do hope it goes away soon xx
Hi
I am glad that you are getting used to not taking too many pills. Try the vit d supplements and magnesium I'm tabs or in Epsom salts in the bath for muscular pain. Also Suppliment D-ribose is in tab form or powder. A member said a dr recommended his friend with MS should take it. It sort of helps the muscles get energy. You can get all these from Amazon with proper explanations. I also take herbal sleeping tabs and hemp tabs early evening to help me sleep. I am on no meds for the pain, as I had bad reactions to them. I also use a hand massager hot water bottle and Volterol gel. I am on antidepressants.
I get so many different pains in my legs from numbness, to shooting pains, to electric shock type pain that makes my leg jerk involuntarily. Fibro has so many symptoms and not everyone suffers the same.
If in doubt always ask your dr.
Good luck and I hope that you continue to feel positive and feel better.
Thanks Fibropop, I'll be sure to try some of those out! I recently started taking vit d drops, they help a lot especially mentally, I suffer from seasonal affective disorder so I'm hoping they'll help get me through this winter. It's good to hear that I'm not alone in the weird leg pain department lol. I'm always looking for alternatives for all the pain meds, especially natural remedies, so thank you for your suggestions
I am so gneuinely sorry to read about the pain in your leg, and as BlueMermaid3 says it sounds like some kind of swelling? It could also be sciatica as this can start in the leg? It may be best to talk to your doctor about it just to get other medical conditions ruled out of the equation.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
Hi Ken, my doctor checked it over and there was nothing obviously wrong, but I'm keeping an eye on it for swelling. I thought it may be sciatica aswell and I think if it continues I might ask my doctor if she thinks it could be sciatica. Thank you, best of luck to you too.
Hi Sue, I have tried a few pain relief gels but not many work well for me. Recently I've been using EmuAid especially on my leg and it does take the edge off, making the pain just about manageable. I might try voltarol again though since this is a new pain, see if it works any better. Thank you
