Hey there. I’ve had fibromyalgia for over 10 years now and a lot of other problems came with.
So, I want to try to keep this brief and beneficial, so…wish me luck… hope this helps…
symptoms
Please note, my memory isn’t the best, and everything is connected, so I might miss some symptoms out by accident:
Lethargy (too tired)
Multi-site pain; continuous
Sharp shooting pains anywhere, running through my body
Muscle ache
Chronic pain
Headaches
Other conditions I endure:
Hypothyroidism
IBS
Vitamin D deficiency
Migraines
Twisted spine
On and off anaemia
Being now diagnosed with diabetes
Severe Milk and Gluten intolerance
Constipation/ Diarrhoea
Solution attempts:
Someone here suggested they were going to try, gut friendly bacteria via probiotics. (Apologies, my original reaction was a worried one, concerned with the gut biome being changed, as we aren’t adding all the good bacteria by doing this) … so, I decided to try it, through tablets, but tried to also have it naturally, through sauerkraut (as I’m severely intolerant to milk) and supplements my diet with fibre, as good bacteria feed on fibre, and reduce sugar intake, as bad bacteria thrive on sugar.
I increased my fibre via fruits, frozen veges (yes, I’m too tired and in pain to not be lazy, and if I do get energy, I want to spend it on beneficial things that make me happy and not be worried about my health 24/7, so forgive my laziness. I also can’t stand for more than 30 mins without my stomach becoming in agony. So…. Cooking isn’t easy, and I through the stool out after the hot oil spitting on me etc. …anyway… let me continue back on point…
I had eggs for breakfast with GF (gluten free) toast or and oat based cereal with Almond milk.
I had oats and banana smoothies for the day, (sweetened by dates and a smidge of honey, or I added a packet of isapghol husk, orange flavour - you can get isapghula husk (extra fibre) from Pakistani/ Indian stores, but it’s not the sweeter version the doctors give). As these foods release energy slowly throughout the day, I hear.
Sugar give me headaches, flares up my sharp pains and increases sugar cravings and lethargy, so I either cut the sugar out (which helped a tonne) or when I caved a sweet thing once a day, at the same time, (because my body naturally craved sugar at that time as it had produced insulin which gave me a sugar craving), but I don’t buy sweet things often to prevent me from caving.
I have multivitamins, and bought tonic water (works on my night time restless legs and cramps), and magnesium (I take a dose once a day whenever I feel a sharp pain flare up is about to hit, or after it hits). The effect isn’t immediate, but i don’t have the pains often now and I haven’t had sharp pains that are severe, for a while.
I got rid of the main stress causers in my life. (Let’s not go into that). And accepted that my conditions are part of me and it’s ok not to be normal. …there is no such thing as normal… which means everything and everyone is normal…. Ta daaaaaaa. It’s all good. Acceptance means I can manage things, means I’m calmer, and better
I worked on decluttering my house and focused on my job which is one where I help others, hence, automatically rewarding even without a thank you. I pray too, and it is spiritually cleansing and calming.
And when I do my stretching exercises I’m not overwhelmed like I would be if I did ‘normal’ exercise and the cricks in my back lose their extremity of painfulness.
Sorry, I don’t have a list of all my sources of information and this is in no way medical advice, just what helped me. Also, no one keeps a bibliography over 10 years, …do they?!
If you try anything I did, and it helps, please comment, to encourage others. And if anything didn’t work, or worsened, to warn others! If you don’t overdo anything, you shouldn’t be harmed. Remember, everything in moderation, and you will be ok. Insha’Allah.
Sorry if I missed anything out. …but hey… it will mean I write another (hopefully beneficial) post!
You are all in my prayers
