Who else suddenly falls asleep in their chair?

I'm terrible for doing it mid afternoon or in the evening. I go from being wide awake sat in my chair to fast asleep in under a minute. It's usually while I'm in the middle of something like reading or playing a game on my tablet. The most common one is with a drink in my hand and I wake up wondering why my lap is wet 🤣🤣🤣 I'm 70 so age probably plays a big part here.

I do it all the time. Most days in fact. I come home around 1pm, have some lunch and bang, I’m gone. Then I do it again anytime from 7pm onwards.

It’s not an age thing, definitely Fibro related.

Yep, I’m terrible for doing that. In an evening I can even lose a while hour or so!

My partner does get somewhat frustrated with me thinking this is what makes me so tired as I probably don’t sleep properly when I eventually go to bed. I can also start drooping mid conversation despite trying to keep my eyes open - he thinks this is me being ignorant 😩

I’ve tried to explain it’s fibro related but not sure he really believes me.

It's not u sweetie it's definitely the fibromyalgia.I dose all morning and afternoon. My carer just carried on around me. I try to read but lately can't concentrate to listen to anyone. I'm struggling for this to make sense.

Sit u partner down and read with him what pages day day on fibromyalgia. My carer now has more of an understand ing n he's looking into itself.

Good luck sweetie hugs dawn x

I really feel for you. I'm 54 and I'm in the same boat. I'm constantly getting moaned at by my husband too. I don't sleep well at night due to the fibro and restless legs so I get up, read or play solitaire on my phone for a while then go back to bed. In the afternoon /early evening I can begin to drop off in the middle of a conversation and my husband really goes at me for it. Says I should stay in bed and sleep at night, then I wouldn't be falling asleep in the daytime. If I do actually nod off he deliberately makes a noise or shouts my name to wake me up - scares the living daylights out of me 😕. I see posts, further down this page, by people saying the spill cups of tea etc. I'm not allowed hot drinks anywhere except the kitchen. I get really sharp pains in my hands and arms which make me twitch and jerk sometimes so between that happening or nodding off, I'm relegated to the kitchen for cuppas. Maybe here isn't the place for all this but I just want to let you know I understand as I'm living something similar.

Sending you gentle hugs xx

Of course this the right place. Your husband should really let you sleep in the day. Your body obviously needs it. As for the hand jerks I get them too. They are very frustrating at times. I have covers on my sofa and chair so if I do nod off or jerk and spill a cup of tea/coffee on myself it doesn't stain the fabric. Hugs xx

I can’t sleep when I go to bed at night but find myself falling asleep all day in the chair and zoning out when people are talking to me

Yes I often fall asleep in the chair, usually while watching something that I really want to see on the TV!

I do exactly the same and often pour my morning brew over myself, it’s never hot though, I can’t drink my brew very hot so it’s usually lukewarm 🙈

I often wake up wearing my cup of tea, but usually in the evening. I'm the same as you though don't drink my tea hot so never burn myself 😁

I don't think it's your age,sarah53, My colouring in bed, I used pens then and ruined a lot of bed linen, I use colouring pencils now, ( a happy mistake)

The other was hot chocolate and coffee in bed again, (I should have learnt before) after wreaking two mattresses, bought another mattress and the protector too, I was tested for sleep apnae thankfully I haven't, Other tests being done,

Everytime I'm in the car, Even just going to the supermarket ( 10 mins) Iv'e stopped driving!

I nearly drowned in the bath once, I shower now,( It wasn't funny at the time,I can joke about it now) I've been waiting in my power chair at the bus station for my Hubby, (We missed our bus,)had an hour to wait for the next one and fell asleep on the bus, Good job Hubby stays awake, I sometimes think we are just sleeping our lives away,

I can totally understand where you're coming from,

My Hubby is one for sleeping if he is staying in, He wakes me at 11 then brings me lunch,Then he goes for a nap until dinner then we spend some time together and yes he goes off again until morning, He's 69 this month,

My annoyance is, I can go to bed at any time during the day and have around 3hrs in all,

I wake every hr or so and am awake each time for about 20mins before I nod back off,

A crappy life

Hi, yes I fall asleep at the drop of a hat and I am only 49, so I don't think it's an age thing but definitely fibomayla( sorry for the bad spelling!) Most days I have a nap in the afternoon, between 2 or 3 hours if I don't then I am no help to anyone.
