Welcome to the group. Sorry to hear your not feeling so good at the moment. Maybe you need to talk with your doctors. They may be able to offer you something else that.may help you.

I live in Italy my doctor and all doctors l have seen are useless. I have wasted money and my time. I suffer with bad jaw pain due to my teeth and l wear a bite but it is causing me pain. Went back to dentist to put bite right and he said l may no longer need it after about 8 yrs or so l have been wearing it on my bottom teeth

Sorry to hear that. We have a different medical system here in the UK. Can your doctor not recommend a pain clinic to help you manage your pain. If you have clinics like that.

Yes there is but l bet l need to go private as the waiting list will be long. I was told that for a eye specialist to see if l have early cataract l can wait a year.

my chronic fatigue going off the scale leaving me only able to do 20 minutes a day of normal daily activity following a reaction to the covid vaccine 2 years ago, as it hadnt got any better a couple of months ago i had 25,000iu's twice a week for 6 weeks following this my GP said i would need to take 2000iu's a day for the rest of my life. unfortunately it hasnt had any effect on the chronic fatigue

in the UK the highest you can buy is 2000iu's, anything over that is prescription only. i think there are 25,000, 50,000 and 75000iu's

Sorry to hear. Dr won't prescribe high dosages of Vit D.You know have to pay for it unless you have none in your blood.

catherine19611 profile image
catherine19611 in reply toAnna65maria

he prescribed the 25,000iu's for 6 weeks which is free on the NHS, they used to prescribe the daily dose but that has been stopped now and anybody they tell needs it has to buy it themselves from the pharmacy or online

It's the same here in Italy where l live. You have to pay for it now

I am curious how low your vitamin D level was for your doctor to have you on such a dose (25k iu). Vitamin D is not an effective "treatment " for fatigue.

catherine19611 profile image
catherine19611 in reply toLisaSnow

it was borderline bottom of whatever the scale is

the 25,000 iu's was to see if that would make the fatigue less, it didnt and when i was taking it the fatigue was actually worse

Interesting - that makes me wonder, if stopping my 20.000 IU 1x/wk might help my fatigue... 🧐. I'm also in the low range, and trying to increase it didn't help.

On the other hand, it might be good for pain, and that's something I now have pretty well under control, at least local pains - and the overall Ache if I don't overdo it (which happens quickly).

@LisaSnow: there are sites that do say it's good for fatigue, have you got studies that it isn't?

Just to ask why you are taking the vitamin K?

Anna65maria profile image
Anna65maria in reply tomoo196

Thought it helped to absorb vit D it came with it when l bought the vitamin D

moo196 profile image
moo196 in reply toAnna65maria

be careful. It's related to the thickness of your blood 🙏

You should get a Vitd test, if taking high doses you need to keep an eye on your vitd and calcium levels as neither should go over range.

I do once a year

I have my vitamin D levels tested twice a year, spring and fall (even if I have to pay for the tests). I'm in Manitoba/Canada and doctors don't usually order tests for D deficiency here. I think testing at least once a year (I think twice is better) is the only way to make sure you don't take too little or too much since it is very individual. My test results are usually a bit higher in fall (but still mid range), even though I take 5000 units throughout the year. Before I started testing I took 2000 units and became super deficient. As I said, we are all different and for some low doses are sufficient and others have to go fairly high (like me). Good for you to take vitamin K with it because that helps the body use calcium properly to build bone instead of depositing it dangerously in arteries and soft tissue.

Be sure to buy/use the ‘mehylcobalamin’ type of vitamin B12 alongside, as B12 is a common deficiency and has lots of symptoms. I swear by them, as being a diabetic alerted me to the significance of widespread B12 and D deficiency harmful damage. Best wishes. KMW

Anna65maria in reply toIlluminator123

What is mehylcobalamin please?

JayCeon profile image
JayCeon in reply toAnna65maria

The cheap type of B12 is cyano-cobalamin. All 3 other types are better. Methylcobalamin, adenosylcobalamin and hydroxycobalamin.

I take between 4000 and 12000iu D3 with K2 every day. I am a 74 year old male living in Scotland with long winters, I think it depends on your physiology, diet, and where you live ( amount of sunshine) as to what is the right dose. I find that my symptoms tend to improve with higher doses.

Read your post and just wanted too say Hi , you have a lot too contend with and doctors do not sound very helpful, it’s the same here sometimes trying too get the right help and people do go private if they can too avoid waiting times, what part of Italy do you live ? Long time ago I visited Jezzelo (not sure if I’ve spelt that right🤣) and quiet part of Sardinia, cannot believe that was 18 yrs ago , not done much travelling abroad for awhile, I think with conditions and Fibro has made me think twice about being away from home, but you never know one day 😃take care xx
