PIP Telephone Assessment

Hello all and good morning, I have a telephone assessment for a new PIP claim.

I was previously on PIP but my award ended without any info due to not receiving any letters from DWP, after going through MR they rejected and advised I make a new claim.

Anyway its coming up and I am very nervous, I have a copy of my application so I will be referring to that, any other advice?

Thank you so much :)

A good morning to you, well your application has gone in so any questions that the assessor will ask will be based on the answers you submitted in your application. You will have to justify your written answers. The assessor will ask you reasonable questions of why you can’t or are unable to preform the PIP descriptors as per the PIP guidelines and regulations. They are no trick questions just be aware that you may be asked questions on the same matter to get or give a clear understanding of your abilities or inabilities. Good luck and remember if in doubt ask for the questions to be repeated.

Thank you! I think it went well, the assessor was very understanding and she understood more or less everything, the convo was for over an hour and she seemed very nice, and helped me out I would say. fingers crossed

Have all your paperwork to hand. Have a drink nearby as it's thirsty work talking for what may take an hour. If you do not understand or are suffering from fibro fog don't be afraid to ask the assessor to repeat the question. If you need to get up and move around (I for one certainly couldn't sit in the same position for an hour) then say so. If they try and interrupt you or move on to another question and you feel you haven't explained fully, then politely ask them to give you a little longer to answer the question.

Good luck and remember to breathe😉

Thank you! I think it went well, the assessor was very understanding and she understood more or less everything, the convo was for over an hour and she seemed very nice, I had my paperwork to hand and was referring to that whenever she asked. However after the phone call I didnt really mention anything about Fibro Fog, I had completely forgot (what a coincidence aha) however it was written in my application that was issued to the DWP. I was cheeky and I did ask of any indication what I may get and she said she's not able to say anything as the final decision is with DWP. Fingers crossed and lets see :)
