Hi ..

I think you would need to ask your doctor to offer you an alternative . I think it bad that they didn't do that when they took you off the ones you were on ..

Good luck xx

Dear Valerie, I am in a terrible flare right now, so severe, can hardly type. Just to say that I will shortly go back on Serreptase enzyme which helped me much before. Do look it up! I cannot swallow a capsule, so have to take out the powder (not very nice tasting either) and take small amounts during the day on an empty stomach. It does take 2 or 3 days to work though. I am also very dizzy with this flare-up of fibromyalgia, so much bed rest. I have M.E. too. Hope you may consider it. I, too, am allergic to many pain meds, but this might be worth a try for you. It is anti-inflammatory. sincerely, Roselil

Poor you..not a very helpful response.

I 've been taking Solpadeine Plus for a very long time My GP offered various SSRIs but they all, variously, had a negative affect...swelling, pain, skin rash etc. so gave up on that option. Co-codamol is generally the first option but it didn't work for me so I continued buying SP (which is basically co-codamol plus caffeine and probably shouldn't make much difference- but it does) until that became difficult because of pharmacy restrictions. A few months ago my GP tried to prescribe SP and much to our surprise is was permitted....not sure what case she put forward because it isn't regularly prescribed. For times when even that doesn't dull the pain she also prescribed 15mg codeine tablets which I can take between SP doses...I try to avoid this if possible!

NEVER exceed prescribed dose!

There are other stronger painkillers that can be prescribed but, for now, I have become so concerned about side effects...you may be more adventurous!

Today the pain is severe and I have just booked an appointment with a new chiropracter - usual one off sick - to do some work on my back, in particular the tail bone area. A (different) GP told me to take an anti inflammatory (they upset my stomsch) and to sit on a donut cushion...doubt she has had "toothache" in her nether region!

I doubt this is much help, others on here possibly have better options but in the meantime.....

All good wishes for better days ahead...

First of all, I'm so sorry for your horrible pain now. I have tried lots of pain killers. The only one that really helped was Nucynta. Sadly this is one of the opioids on the government hit list. I was taking 200m twice a day along with two 50m a day. It was a miracle, and has worked for lots of fibro sufferers. Flare ups suck. Stay strong! Keep bugging your doctor until they can find sonething to give you some relief. Do you see a pain specialist? If not, seek one out.

Not what you're looking for?
