Which pain killers?

Over the last two days my pain has changed. I started with symptoms a year ago and after initial suspicions on Lupus, my diagnosis is now Fibromyalgia. I've been feeling 90% well since May and controlled my pain with paracetamol at night only. For the last 2 days I've had sharp pains from my shoulders to elbows (I call them running pains as they run down my arms). I have burning pains under my shoulder blades and between my ribs. My hips are sore and I generally ache in that strange way that goes with this illness. I can't take Naproxen (even with a stomach protector). Can anyone give me any advice ahead of my Drs appointment later today? Tia x

I saw the nurse practitioner. She gave me codiene. It hasn't eased the pain, but I am sleeping so I hope that the sleep will diminish the flare.

What a pity I have only just come on as I have had an infection and it caused a flare. Hope the appointment went well. I would have said Pregablin or Gabapentin as before taking Pregablin K had continuous burning pains especially across my back in the thoracic area and around my rib cage. I still have it but the drug improved it and the episodes are usually briefer. Let us know how you got on.x

I saw the nurse practitioner. She gave me codiene. It isn't shifting the pain, but it is making me sleep so I hope the flare up will subside.

I have found with the codeine based meds that they can take a few days to help. I have been on cocodamal for years and when I first went on it ifI remember correctly it was about 3 days before I found any benefit. Many people find it makes them sleepy which is only for the good if you are in a flare. Do hope it works for you.x

Thanks Rosewine. I've been incredibly well since May. I'm doing some interim work, riding my horse, walking my dog, having people round for meals. I'm not enjoying this knock back. I've had to take time off work and I'm just lounging around between bed and the sofa and whinging ....!! Thank goodness for this forum. I can vent to people who understand instead of my poor husband. It is useful to know that the codeine might kick in shortly.

I’ve been getting pain in my ribs for about 12 month now but did not realise that this was a sign of fibromyalgia x

That was one of my first signs of fibromyalgia it is a horrible sort of pain as it makes even breathing deeply someday difficult. You have my sympathy. X
