Just came back from physiotherapy appointment. Spinal scan clear which is brill. Bloods, high markers being discussed with rheumatologist. Very low vitamin D and folic acid gp being advised to make prescription. After 6 years of random investigation we are back at fibromyalgia, discussion about management and chosen to stay on pregabalin and codeine for time being and that I just want my diagnosis for my own sanity and to think about what I want to do and what's best for me. Went home awaiting written investigation from physiotherapist and ordered my next prescription as normal to have a text message from gp surgery refusing my prescription and that a gp MAY ring me on Monday 14th ???????Totally confused 🙄🤔🥴

Sorry , which prescription has your GP refused , a repeat of pain medication or the Vitamin D and Folic Acid?I assume the GP can access your vitamin test results , or ordered them , to see you require these immediately.

Vitamin deficiencies are common causes of triggering flares in Pain and Fatigue with Chronic Illness like Fibro , and deficiencies reduce our ability to improve our symptoms.

I would personally suggest that you politely, but firmly, request by phone to speak to a doctor at your surgery today about this matter , as you are confused as to why they would consider not treating you or continuing your pain medication and need to clear up the matter today rather than possibly ending up with a flare because of the added stress of waiting over the weekend to deal with this.

Getting a text message about this is awful. Probably sent to avoid having to confront this issue with you on the phone . At the least they should have spoken to you and shown you better patient care and proper consideration.

I'm reading this as perhaps your repeat prescription (of Pregabalin & codeine) was refused, tho could of course be wrong. I'm too late to agree with Blearyeyed about ringing to discuss the issue today, but wouldn't hesitate to ring first thing on Monday if you haven't already been able to do so.

It could be a glitch, or you've just re-ordered a tad too early. Whatever it is, best to clear it up, & hope you have enough meds to tide you over the weekend. I'm sure you'll get this sorted.

Could it be that you are due a review of your medication. Our gp surgery generally have a one year review and until it is done prescriptions are on hold, although during covid lockdown the prescriptions were allowed to continue. Vit D and folic acid can both be purchased over the counter unless very high doses needed, I assuming your prescription has been held for pregabalin and codeine not the vit D and folic acid.

Thank u all for your advise. Just an update. After struggling to get a gp appointment, I finally got some info from a lovely receptionist who looked at my record she said it was my pain killers that needed to be reviewed and that a gp has already checked that it's fine as it's for my fibromyalgia and I just need to request it again. No letter has been received from physio yet so no vitamins on prescription. I have already bought over the counter vitamins to get started, its cheaper anyway. I just get annoyed at my gp surgery with its lack of communication and not even bothering to ring me to explain. Thanks all at least I can still get my much needed pain meds.
