I have a colostomy and I had to have a colonoscopy this week I was given pethidine. I found the procedure very painful and was told it was because I take morphine for chronic pain.
This worries me in case I need emergency treatment where I will need pain management. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Nopen you feel better now the procedure is over. Yes I feel they might be right as our body is already used to taking pain killers so it probably needs something very hefty to take the edge off any additional pain we have. It actually makes me laugh when say you have pain in the arm etc after a Covid jab and they say take some Paracetamol as I might as well be swallowing a smartie. Whereas my friend who normally doesnt take any painkillers is knocked out by half a Paracetamol.
I do hope you don't ever have to test their theory again.
